To all the Stoner fans out there I would say his undisputable legend is that he could ride the Ducati fast, despite it being a flawed bike. His riding style has been good to watch too (although he is not the only rear-end slider). He is a phenomenal rider. However, this year unless you are completely biased you have to agree that Dani and Lorenzo have also shown they are phenomenal too, just as if not more phenomenal than Stoner. They often get overlooked and ignored in all the Stoner vs Rossi furore.

Win or bust Stoner is the man to beat every weekend he's at the track! Best style, best attitude and no nonsense approach to racing. Only ever been one rider comparable to him and that's the great Ed Lawson.
Crutchlow a close second for trying bloody hard and Spies fighting with Rossi not to be last in the fight for embarrassment of the year.
It's never been about the costumes and blowing kisses for the cameras, it's the show on track that counts.

@ Hemmy "Stoner also has more wins than anyone else..."

Might want to check those facts.

Rossi has 79 Grand Prix victories (and 7 championships).

1. Stoner. 2. Dani. 3. Jorge.
i like wsbk better than motogp, but to see Stoner ride? Hmmm...that makes me forget wsbk for a while.. And i guess i'll be a fulltime couch potato again when he returns.. :D

@hemmy,

actually jlo has his 2 WC in 5 years (opposed to stoners 7) as he joined the big league in 08.

Rossi's 2 WC were back to back, Jlo had a 1 year gap while stoner had a 3 year gap.

As for more race wins, true by 10-13 i think...however a true GOAT would have produced at the very least 1 more WC from that stat???? so what does it count for????

Dave, what's this obsession with back to back championships anyway, I don't get it?
What does it prove when it's against a rookie (JL) an 800 honda that was never any good until an aussie to put it right, and a debilitated rider on a bike that Valentino could only manage a 6th and a 7th on with an unlimited budget?
In case you want to go down the old route the rest of the haters do, remember Stoner got more points in '10 than he did in '09 and also had multiple WINS on the ducati and at least 10 podiums in his last 2 years on THAT terrible bike.
