MotoGP » Rossi: Stoner 'started to hate me' after Laguna 2008

“Stoner started to hate me just because he lost. After that, he always seemed to talk about the past, this race [Laguna], because he wasn't man enough to understand that at that time, he lost!” – Valentino Rossi.

I am with Stoner. That move at the top of the Corkscrew is a chump move. Been done before, everyone knows it is there. But it's so dangerous and litters the track for everyone so badly and in such a blind spot, that over the many years of racing there, 2 wheels or 4, it is understood you don't do it. Common knowledge if you know Laguna.

A Euro spectator may not be familiar with this, but most US spectators are and anyone who has raced anything there knows this. ****** move. Not knocking Rossi on the whole, but in this case it's just true.

The worst time for Rossi to bring this up, he's been on the Duc for two years with way more support than Casey ever had while he was there and what exactly has Rossi achieved on the Duc ?

@oldman
its racing.
Stoner also made a strong Move on Bautista. We dont see Bautista whining about that race for years.

Anyways. Happy hunting

Stoner could never take the pressure from other title contenders and always reacted like a spoilt kid. He never seemed to enjoy the life he had as a moto gp rider, but i will miss watching his reactions when over he lost.

after a pass like that, can't blame him too much. o well with that little 2 year 3 podium stint at ducati, looks like he exposed you pretty well. As long as lorenzo is there, rossi won't win another race let alone a championship again.

I think Stoner hated Rossi way before then. Maybe because Rossi was having fun, and Stoner wasn't?
In response to earlier comments:
1) You pass where you can in order to win: that's what they're paid to do.
2) Stoner best / rossi crap for 2 years etc etc.
Stoner was good on the Duc for 1 year only. They had different tyres, and about 20kph more than the other teams.
Comparisons between the two could only be drawn if Stoner had won on a privateer 2-stroke ( as per Rossi ). That will never happen so the argument is void. Yes Stoner was FAST, but did he have the mental strength? I think not...... That's where Rossi is certainly superior, maybe because he was having fun?!

Stoner Rossi war will never end :-)

Sour grapes from Rossi who couldn't ride the Ducati that Casey cleaned everybody's clocks with!

Besides that, Rossi's move at Laguna was ILLEGAL! He rode off the track to gain an advantage and basically knocked Casey off. I have no respect for riders who pull that kind of stunt.

Let's face it, like it or not, Stoner was a brilliant Moto GP rider, the likes of which we will probably never see again.

Too right! You could have killed the guy with that bonehead move!

Rossi had a huge advantage in machinary, yet he still had to resort to dirty moves to get ahead.

So yes Rossi you did 'win' laguna 08, but you also LOST due to the way you did it.

Lets not forget that is the bikes were swapped that day, Rossi would have been mid-pack and not even in the race.

Of course Rossi fans always like to cling on to Laguna 08, and it appears that Rossi did too. Wow! Rossi on an M1 beat Stoner on a Ducati.

Now that the roles were reversed for the last 2 years, how many tiume did he manage to beat him in 2 years? Thats tells the story right there!
