MotoGP » Rossi: Stoner 'started to hate me' after Laguna 2008

“Stoner started to hate me just because he lost. After that, he always seemed to talk about the past, this race [Laguna], because he wasn't man enough to understand that at that time, he lost!” – Valentino Rossi.

The Doctor is and will always be overall number one in moto gp.

Stoner is and always will be the only rider that could beat the Hondas and Yamahas.

When it comes down to motorcycle history, that is what it boils down to.

Rossi and KC are both exceptional talent. I am glad that I was able to enjoy it while it lasted.

Personally I rooted for KC because I knew he was riding much harder on a lesser machine.

Lets face it, I will never eclipse Rossi,s achievements !!!! unfortunatly they are they are ALL documented AND will be around probably untill the end of humanity. I will continue to whine and moan about him because I think I was a better rider unfortunatly I ALWAYS forget that should be for other people to say because taking pot shots at Rossi on every given oppurtunity is boreing everybody.......... SORRY

Good riders come and go.
Brilliant riders/entertainer stay with you for ever.
Whinging, moaning, excuse makers (Stoner being the only one I can recall) fade away very quickly.
Does anybody intend to watch Stoner's toy car-racing.

Aussie sour grapes............. The Doctor is in and will see you now Mr Casey Moaner..... 7 titles to 2......... 79 wins on everything for 2 stroke on to 4 stroke 990cc 800cc.. Vale could out class Stoney riding anything but a shopping cart..... Hence no win on the duck.

@Rossi fans

imagine all those last two years without JB,Carmello,BS and the Sponsor money thrown at river flow, will you still be proud to make a hollow claim ' Rossi is a Racer.Casey is NOT'.where were your eyes those years, especially LS' 2012 version.not even worth a mention of rossi eating the dust battling for 10th,is it?

Whjy do people knock Rossi, he developed the Yam and then moved to the Duke to do the same, how can you expect results in just 2 years, Stoner just rode the wheels of the Duke for glory, yes he did a good job and mastered the bike, but Rossi is a racer and can develop bikes, the Yamaha is proof. Up for Rossi down for Stoner.

In response to Jenky @Rossi had a huge advantage in machinary, yet he still had to resort to dirty moves to get ahead.
what crap you are talking. do you have any idea of what happened in Laguna Seca. Stoner was half a second quicker than Rossi in qualifying. the track was very narrow and only strategy Rossi had planned was to get in front of Stoner and block his moves somehow and not allow him to pass. Ducati was clearly superior in that race. It was only Rossi's brave racing that paved the way for success. and thats what racing is all about.. thats why people remember rossi as racer and Stoner is just rider. its just not his 7 titles and many victories, its his racing ability daring moves which has won the heart of milions. Pedrosa can win too. given a free track anyone can win on a superior bike. but a true racer is one who can win a races under difficult conditions. and rossi has shown this time and again against many riders including some of the fascinating battles with Stoner and

@ Steve Fox 'To finish first, first you have to finish'

With all due respect Steve, thats why Rossi has won 9 world titles to Stoners 2, he stayed on the bike! Stoner always said he raced to win. Admirable in one respect but that doesn't win you championships. Look at Lorenzo last year. On outright speed, Stoner has definately got the edge but Im sorry at putting together a championship, he just isn't as good as Rossi.
Another sign of greatness is the ammount of different bikes you win races and championships on. How many bikes has Stoner won on compared to Rossi. As a Rossi fan, I am the first to admit he simply wan't as good as Stoner on the Ducati, no question. But look at the bigger picture. What about the smaller classes? Are you telling me the factory KTMs and Chechinnello Aprilias that Stoner had were rubbish bikes? And the RC211V that he had in 2006? I doubt it!
I think people forget all this.
I'll never forget the hammering Rossi took after the Mugello practice crash in 201
