MotoGP » Rossi: Stoner 'started to hate me' after Laguna 2008

“Stoner started to hate me just because he lost. After that, he always seemed to talk about the past, this race [Laguna], because he wasn't man enough to understand that at that time, he lost!” – Valentino Rossi.

@dacron

Amazing that dud of a duc won the championship previous year and dominated qualifying for LS08 only to have Stoner choke away a sure win. I was there and it was epic.

It was cornering just fine and had waaayyyy more power.

Just needed a proper racer onboard.

If stoner really hates rossi,as rossi states,it would not be about laguna 08,it would be rossis whingeing and complaining also pedrosas,about the tryes and anything else on the planet why stoner was faster than all of them in 07,rossi broke a contract with michelin mid season to get the bridgestones,and rossi has the hide to say riders are too serious these days.Well to me that is the pot calling the kettle black.Icould go on forever , but its a waste of time,cheers

@RossiTheLegend.
at least he never smacked him in the head on the way up to the podium.
stoner was brave enough to stand up for himself against the peoples favoured rider while only still a kid .
if thats being a bitch then i support bitches , vale was smiling because he won , simple , when he wasn't winning in 07 he was constantly complaining to carmello who always reasured him to have stoners bike stripped and searched for illegal tampering , non was ever found so the tune changed to the tyres and vale turned on mitchelin and carmello got him out of his contract and served him stoners bridgstones on a platter.
stoner has many reasons to dislike vale and carmello and was brave enough to stick to his guns throughout his career.

Rossi's pass in Laguna was irregular and unacceptable. Any other rider would have been penalised with a ride through or a time delay, but, of course, not Ezpeleta's spoiled kid. This was just one more time in which rules were bent in Rossi's favour.

Stoner has very good and legitimate reasons to be pissed off for that race. Race direction was wrong, and the benefit went to the same place as always.

Stoner was beaten by a desperate illegal move by Rossi which forced him off the racing line to avoid collision. Rossi was so desperate he went off the track and cut back in! It was downright illegal! If uve raced before u will never forgive that and in all other circumstances the race directors wouldve penalised the culprit for infringement, but this was Rossi the goldenboy they let it pass. If it was a legal move everyone wouldve started to cut the chicane like that. This is motogp, it isnt supermotard!

@Roman, Hayden should have been penalised too if he got an advantage because of cutting the chicane.

Track limits are there for a reason, and that reason is that riders must keep themselves inside them during the race.

The reason why I say this is the same reason why a qualifying time is not registered when the rider makes "a straight" in a chicane. If you apply a rule for one thing, then you have to apply that rule for all cases.

@ Adolph

Fact is if an advantage wasn't taken (as judged by race direction) then no penalties are given. It is simply regarded as a "racing" incident.

It happens all the time in all forms of raing. Do you even watch the races?
