MotoGP » Rossi: Stoner 'started to hate me' after Laguna 2008

“Stoner started to hate me just because he lost. After that, he always seemed to talk about the past, this race [Laguna], because he wasn't man enough to understand that at that time, he lost!” – Valentino Rossi.

Rossi the exposed fraud, nine titles. Stoner the fastest, two titles. I dont get it, surely being the fastest and being the only rider with the ability to ride around any bike's problems would have won 13 championships in 13 years. Why only two? Who's the fraud again?

If racing was all about watching someone who can sell ice to eskimos, then I see a place for Valentino Rossi.
But because it's about punting an angry motorcycle around a track and risking a lot to win, then the guy is out of his depth. Maybe he can get a spot on 'Dragon's Den'?

The article is a lie, the interview never happened, and Rossi never made those comments.

Surely Crash should make another article stating that this one is false.

I still remember so well the evening/night (for Europe) of that race.

I was having a drink with friends on the balcony and said "just going to check a second the race" as I was 100% it was going to be boring with Stoner disappearing on the distance.

After a few laps I was enthused with this unbelievable sensation of happiness, for the historical moment I was witnessing, and confidence, the confidence that Rossi was running the show, as if a mysterious force was beside him: the force of the best fighter/racer in the world who's smelled blood and is gone in for the win, whatever it takes.

History was in the making, by far the best race I've ever seen.

the only thing i would change in laguna battle 08, Is the fact that stoner fell, the race didnt go to the wire, to the final lap show down like in catalunya 07 like to see as a fan of motogp!!! to say who is better or worse its like comparing bugatti to maclaren f1 all is relative, both of them are great cars both of them are great riders!!! and both achieved soo much in sports! i was privilage to watch them fight out., its sad for the sport that now days most of the fighting is of the track!!! and that laguna races are rare wsbk., bsb there is carnage :)

Do not flatter yourself Rossi, that move would have been illegal if it was not VR doing it, passing by "shortcutting"the track is a illegal move, that's it. And just because Stoner do not look at you with puppy eyes and admiration and call you the greatest all the time does not mean he hates you, he just do not have any respect for you:)
Cheers Claes

Partly right shaken, but the truth is he probably hated stoner way before that!
When burgess recognised and commented on stoners obvious ability even before the 2006 season, rossi wielded his poison tongue and ended any possibility for the aussie to get a berth at yamaha.
The irony is how it allowed stoner to prove he is a once in a lifetime talent and how rossi's opinion of himself, like many fans, is drastically over rated.
