MotoGP » Rossi: Stoner 'started to hate me' after Laguna 2008

“Stoner started to hate me just because he lost. After that, he always seemed to talk about the past, this race [Laguna], because he wasn't man enough to understand that at that time, he lost!” – Valentino Rossi.

"cause he has nothing else to boast about"

the championship in 2009? He could boat about that if he wanted to. Casey said in an interview that beating Vale gives him the MOST satisfaction so why cant Rossi have a snide dig too.

Probably said somewhere else but Vale has brought up Laguna 08 about 3000 times in the last couple of years cause he has nothing else to boast about. Remember that time.....

Hang on Roo Shooter whilst I get my shoes and socks off for this....23 in 2007, 24 in 2008, 25 in 2009, 26 in 2010, 27 in 2011 and 28 in 2012. He was born in Oct 1985 so that means he turned....27 this year!! So "@Gunasekaran" was almost correct!

So your saying that Stoner won on the Ducati at 23-24 in 2007 and left at the age of 27, making it only 3-4 yrs in motogp but he won Phillip Island 6 straight years.

Your post only shows you know nothing about Motogp

Most compare rossi and stoner with their respective season results on ducati and say stoner was the best... We know its a bit difficult to handle that ducati machine, its quite a unique make aswell. Stoner won the championship at the age of 23 or 24 on ducati, rossi did mount on that machine at the age of 32 or 33, clearly 10 older,, afterall the riders are normal humans and age does matter a lot in motor sport specially when on two wheels,,, who will guarantee that stoner would have done the same on ducati at 34... Champions are not just about wins and poles, its a collection of skills, speed, concentration, physical fitness and passion for the sport, stoner feared that he may loose few of those qualities and hence he retired soon at 27. Why did stoner retired, he feared about failures to come in future and thats why vale is a king... stoner should have stayed to have another go on that ducati at 34 if at all he wants to blame rossi for not being efficient on ducati... Here age is not

Sorry to be the voice of reason, but the interview never even took place! The magazine that published it have admitted they edited bits of Rossi's old interviews from years ago to make it!

It certainly escalated quickly!

Whatever spin you put on it the 2008 Laguna race still rankles with a lot of posters. Rossi over cooked it and there is a cry for him to be penalised. Conveniently forgetting that Casey used to be held in awe for riding over the kerb on the inside of a corner to gain an advantage.
Lighten up people, if you get too serious, with too many rules, then racing will be as sterile as Jorges' Championship. (not getting at Lorenzo, the lad did what was needed and did it to perfection).
