3rd is well deserving for casey i think.
too bad he never got to take full advantage of the honda's advancement in the later part due to missing races through injury .
it was a very unlucky season for him physically as well as mechanically , but that can happen in racing.
all in all he was still the most exciting rider when he was out there and the all balls performance at indy with a wrecked ankle and ligaments was the gutsiest show of the season not to mention the annihilation of the island still unfit.
still the fastest and most talented rider this year non the less.
oh , have to mention making the second row on the start grid at indy after doing only 3 laps in the first session before breaking that ankle....cheers.

3rd fastest with a mangled ankle.

Probably 1st fastest, but Dani's game was so strong at the end of the season, it would have been nice to see a healthy Casey to see if Dani could do him again like Sachsenring.

Jorge Lorenzo 2nd fastest with this years special Bridgestone tire.

Dani Pedrosa fastest overall by the end of the season, serious speed and domination, could have had an awesome winning streak had Barbera not taken him out at Misano, and made that race worth watching.

Sachsenring is probably Pedrosa's best track, and with two corners to go Casey was about 0.2 seconds away from the lead, so let's not pretend Pedrosa dominated there despite Stoners mistake. For comparison, Phillip Island is Stoners best track and he absolutely untouchable there. The telling stat is that despite Casey's injury Dani only finished ahead of Stoner once more than Stoner beat him. So, Dani deserves to be ahead of Stoner this year but the stats sine they've been racing each other are profoundly one sided in Stoner's favour, even while he was stillon the Ducrappy.

And he deserves it professor x.

But I don't think people ought to be TOO carried away with Dani's performance even still. Look a when he won Most of his races this year - in the second half of the season when Stoner was either not riding or riding injured, and Jorge was riding for the title by his own admission, ie happy to get second places rather than ride on the very limit and make a mistake. So who was Dani really riding against for those wins.. None of the aliens that's for sure.

Jorge only won this year because Bridgestone & the guy Ducati fired gave him a spec tire stavros. Honda destroyed Yamaha after they managed to settle the chatter a little. When Honda completely solve the chatter problem and they get better tires expect Yamaha to get flushed down the toilet and Honda Satellite teams to beat all up and down Tech 3. No more jackhammer front end for Bautista, and Bradl will be sporting a well supported bike, Yamaha be fearing next year. It will probably be Jorge's worst to date in GP racing, especially if Rossi manages to pull some of the monopoly of support Jorge gets.

Get ready for more Brno's next year. As for Ducati, well that all depends on whether or not they can clone an M1 or Bridgestone make a better tire.

And I still think a strong argument can be made for the guy that wrapped up the title with a round to spare being 'rider of the year', despite Bridgestone and Dorna loading the dice n Jorge's favour with a new spec front tyre being introduced early in the season that was much worse for Honda. Lorenzo did what he had to do and had Dani covered, especially when Stoner got hurt.

dani obviously did actually up his game still , it was clear for the eyes to see , and when the new honda was introduced he had no more problems with fighting the yam .
caseys data was free to dani and its clear he started to understand what casey was doing .
he started to turn down the traction control and began letting the back slide in turns , you could clearly see this in the second half of the season.
i think with this new knowledge dani will be hard to beat next year , especially with no casey and that new honda.
his only problem will be the tyre choice next year , with vale at yam i can't see the tyres favoring anything but the yam.
