Extra memorable photo that one!
I believe it was the special wave he saved particularly for the Rossi fanclub at Mugello?
Poor old Georgey, did it with a leg in the air and played it smart yet still gets slated for not trying hard enough.

@Kwak7, yes it proves that either Rossi has more haters than worshippers, or that people actually used their brains when voting this time.

Its all onions though.

My onion is that common sense prevailed over blinkered fanboyism.

But im sorry, Lorenzo deserves to be on top. The guy chasing has nothing to lose, and Lorenzo did what he needed to do to come out as number 1, but it appears that many disagree.

I do hope Rossi isn't number one. It would finally show that people are starting to wake up and smell the BS Rossi has been spouting for too long. Always had advisers getting him the right equipment at the right time. NSR500, peak of it's development, Rossi wins. RCV211V, developed back in Japan by Doohan, Okada & The HRC fleet, out the box the best thing out there, then jumps on the M1, which, apparantly, was a dog. But then you ask people in the know and they dispel that, the Yam was 90% done when VR jumped on it, a rough diamond as it were, Barros had done most of the development needed by the time Rossi was hiding under tables in the Yamaha hospitality unit with Lin Jarvis.

He then gets his **** handed to him by Lorenzo so needs to jump ship to keep the myth alive. 'Oh look there's a Ducati seat free' thinks VR, 'we will fix that Ducati front end in 80 seconds' says burgess 'it's ok Jerry, it's impossible to judge the bike because Casey wasn't riding it hard enough' says VR. @Desmo Dave

Yawn lol
Boring as it is desperate
Back on topic I think Pedrosa had a brilliant season and its interesting when I have been in Spain that speaking to locals they prefer him to Lorenzo.
Lorenzo deserves it for consistency this year.

With Yamaha circus in 2013 I think Pedrosa has best chance of title next year if he can get a good start

Presume Danny voted top because he made second half of season exciting, and Danny really hung it out and fought tooth and nail, hope he comes out guns blazing next year. I do think Rossi is the goat but doesn't deserve top ten, he had given up after a few races. But overall MotoGP is boring.

Not so strange, Sykes was also voted number 1 in WSB, the person who won the championship only second.

What's sure this was the best season in Pedrosa's and Sykes' career, Lorenzo and Biaggi had this kind of success before, maybe this is why the formers were voted better scores.

Now, that the poll rankings are known, here are my thoughts regarding Alonso versus Lorenzo :
- they both were outstandingly constant throughout the season
- they swapped the places in the hierarchies : Alonso came first in the poll while being WDC runnerup and, on the contrary, Lorenzo came second in the poll but securing the title.
I think that a cause for that might well be the equipment. While Alonso's was arguably the third fastest, Lorenzo's one was practically the RBR of the motoGP: maybe not always the fastest, yet the most balanced out there .
