LA-Xstream,are you serious?
Do you honestly think anyone on the grid is afraid of Rossi any more?
Have the last two years taught you anything at all?
Why would Lorenzo be afraid of a guy he has already beaten on the same equipment?
Rossi used to be able to intimidate people. Those days are long gone mate, long gone.

It would be nice to see a satellite bike win a race for the first time in 7 years or a ducati for the first time in 3 years.. As for marquez, I bet he will win a race before rossi does.

@ 99 Crystal Ball

I agree to an extent.

Rossi, much like Tiger Woods, had a psycological edge over his competitors. Those days are long gone.

To think Rossi will not be competitve is a joke however.

I do not believe he will go out and dominate like 01-05, but he will be at the sharp end. It's all going to come down on set up. IMO there's nothing between the Honda's and Yamaha's, much like IMO there isn't a whole lot between Jorge, Rossi and Pedrosa.

Marquez will win races next year, just like Jorge and Danni. Marquez will equal Rossi on wins as they both will get left with what the real dogs(Danni and Jorge) drop. Next years battles are between J+D. The rest will just be fighting for the other step. With end of season form and what is expected, the top 5 every race will be, Jorge, Danni, Marc, Rossi and Cal. Any of them can win but No.99 and 26 will take the top 2 spots at most of the races.

@crt what seperates lorenzo from the other 2 is consistency.. neither rossi nor pedrosa have the pure consistency of lorenzo which will be the determining factor next year. When lorenzo finishes a race, its almost a guaranteed podium, usually either in 1st or 2nd.. save for a 6th place in 2011 when he clashed with simoncelli and re=mounted, lorenzo has not finished a race outside the top 4 since his rookie year in '08.

Here are some interesting snippets of information.

Rossi on debut (2000 on a 500cc 2-stroke Honda) - 2nd in championship ahead of the likes of Max Biaggi, Alex Barros, Gary McCoy, Carlos Checa, Loris Capirossi, Alex Creville (the reigning WC finished 9th that year).
With 10 Podiums (2 Wins) and 3 DNF's
Stoner on debut (2006 on a 990 4-stroke Honda) - 8th in the championship ahead of the likes of Toni Elias, John Hopkins, Chris Vermeulen.
With 1 Podium (no wins) and 6 DNF's...he was pretty wild that year!
2006 was the year that Rossi lost the championship to Hayden...which would've happened sooner had Pedrosa not taken his team mate out the previous round.
The next year Stoner went to Ducati and the rest is history...

@ jerginz

Since Rossi joined Yamaha he has started 117 races and podiumed 85 of them, for a podium percentage of 73% (rounded up)

Since Jorge has joined Yamaha he has started 85 races and podiumed 60 of them, for a podium percentage of 71% (rounded up)

Since Pedrosa joined Honda in 2006 he has started 116 races and podiumed 71 of them, for a podium percentage of 61% (rounded up)

All three riders are a model of podium consistancy.

If you somehow think Rossi has forgotten how to ride you're going to be in for a rude awakening. Yes he was a complete failure at Ducati, and unless your name is Stoner it appears you are going to be. Taking Rossi's results on the Ducati and trying to transfer them into results back on the M1 is like comparing belly button lint to nudlear warheads.

JLO on Debut (2008 4 Stroke Yamaha 800cc)
4th in championship ahead of Dovi (also on Debut), Hayden, Edwards and Vermeulen...
Wins - 1
Podiums - 6
DNF's - 5
Contrary to jerginz's statement, 2008 saw JLO finish 6th at Donnington, 6th at Assen, 10th at Brno, 8th at Valencia in 2008.
