Nothing wrong with telling someone they "need to pull their finger out" but it can be done in a professional manner, y'know. The best leaders know how to motivate and inspire. Bad leaders create divisions.

"If it moves, if the wheels get out of line, it gets upset.
And move it did with Ben,he was chucking it all over in practice and qualifying,Before Bens motor blew it had been lying with the motor running in the kitty litter, before the swing arm went the bike was crashed and tumbled into the kitty litter, the bike failed in races after been crashed.

Yorgi all year worked on race set up and hardly put a fast lap in untill when it was needed and he done that in the final part of qualifying,Ben chased after speed from fridays, maybe to much pressure to achieve and not enough patients to do the job correctly.

Spies was shockingly bad this season.
Pre season Spies himself was saying how much the 1000 would suit him, he rode poor and made equally poor decisions.
He just couldn't handle being told a truth he must have already known.

I like Ben bur was alarmed when before the start of the last season he commented that "he was looking forward to getting on a MotoGP bike again" - having NOT ridden any sort of motorcycle at all during the off season. He was heavily involved in his cycling team, maybe had his priorities wrong?
Just wondering.

re: "He was impressive in previous seasons, so his abysmal season must hvae been a shock to everyone in the team."

kinda like the shock one experiences when the a55 end of their bike suddenly drops and they find themselves "body surfing" thru the corkscrew at their 1st home race, or the shock of "scattering" an engine at their 2nd home race.

re: "You are correct that plans do change but Yamaha said they were not actively pursuing anyone and were intending to resign Spies"

and then the phone rang with the caller ID displaying the name "V. Rossi".

For me it was an easy decision, ben had to go to make way for the legend.
Valentino is our priority now, jorge is a good boy, he will do as he's told or we fix his bike like we did bens.

Extremely bad PR year for Yamaha thanks to Spies not playing by their rules and bringing some of this out. I applaud him for it, especially considering he suffered more bad luck than actual mistakes made on his part.

What team actually says "We've lost confidence in you" and expects anything good to come of it?!

No question Ben had some really bad breaks last year, but as much as I wanted him to do well I have to admit I noticed he was reluctant to push when the track was tricky--damp patches say. He wants perfect conditions and comfort with the bike to give 100%. That doesn't get it at the highest level. He's a fine rider but he just doesn't have all the arrows to dominate. I hope he at least can equal Dovi on the Duck otherwise he is finished in MotoGP
