Bad luck?
You sh..ng me?
20 years ago and 20 from now, no rider will ever get that amount of "bad luck" that Ben got in 2012, for each incident you put a dot in a graph and not even the whole paddock will match that spike in the graph!

Its pretty sad to think we have a guy who decided mid way through the 2012 season that he didnt want to be a part of the Factory Yamaha Team.

Perhaps he should have negotiated a contract release and given someone else the opportunity. The fact is we are only hearing Bens selective version of events.

Perhaps instead of dwelling on 2012 he should move on and I do wish him the best.

re: "That doesn't get it at the highest level. He's a fine rider but he just doesn't have all the arrows to dominate."

and yet in '09 his "quiver" runneth over as he steamrolled europe, or were you not around for that...?

its pretty sad to think we have a guy (not just any, but a defending worl' champeen) who decided mid way through the 2012 season that he didnt want to be part of MotoGP in its entirety and its devaluing fan base.

Well it clear that one Mr Rossi put in a few calls to Yamaka after his first season at Duc, looking for a life line...seems fairly obvious to me...and the rest as they say "is History" Moto GP is ruthless, see how Duc positively fell over themselves to get JL and cast their Champ to one side, quick as look at you! The sooner manufacturer control and dominance of the sport is quelled the better for all parties, teams, racing and fans....

Good luck to Ben Spies in 2013 I say.

On a Ducati? Double good luck! All Ducati riders will hope for it! "AUDI COME SAVE US!

Still, in 2012 I reckon the guy had his cards stacked against him. Great rider plagued by bad luck and silly mistakes. His riding was not as expected. After so many technical failures do you really expect any rider to do more and match the front runners in 2012?

Good luck Ben. I reckon taking a 2nd rank (or 1st) Ducati ride is a guy clinging onto the Motogp lifestyle (Edwards is a master at it!) for as long as they can. If you succeed in 2013? WOW. If you fail in 2013? Serves you right for passing up a great WSB ride for a failing circus. You made the choice fella...
