Interesting facts. It is clear from the statistics that one rider is a true champion and perhaps the greatest rider ever, whilst the other is an aging old has-been.

no one can dispute how well Danny, George and Casey have rode over the past few seasons. But I wonder how well all the new generation would have done, and would do, on bikes with no electronics like the era of which Rossi grew up in? we all know electronics is a great leveller. perhaps for mgp to get back the excitement and gain credibility again, we should ditch the electronic packages, and then see how smooth people are and learn real race craft?

@motogps...you could hardly consider Jlo old.

@ellis...couldnt agree more and just to add, what doesnt kill you can only make you stronger...fully fit, competitive package and a challenge to prove to himself he still has it.

One way or the other, 2013 is going to be a year to remember...end of an era or rise of the phoenix?

@Lpcrracing, I watched a great interview with Doohan and Stoner in Aus before Phillip island, Stoner was saying how he would have loved to have raced the old 2 strokes, Doohan agreed that he would have been outstanding on them.

Well, well, well. Another Championship bun fight for us to all enjoy at Crash.

I gotta bite.... It's just the fighting spirit in me to raise a smile on the "return to work for real Monday after Christmas".

Jorge looks the real deal. Starts the real deal with the last two years form and the other geezer won his last title in the noughties. Even Max Biaggi(true GOD) realised that he can't be leaving his children for this circus, no-more. AT least he left a Champion.
That's my take on the "let's get this party started here!" campaign. Return fire with true humour please!

Might as well throw Agostini's stats in the mix for all this comparison is worth!
Splitting up the years into Rossi's yamaha and then ducati years is a joke!
Like I said, if you're gonna make comparisons and use stats between riders in years they weren't even competing against each other, then it's no different than throwing in the fifteen time Italian champs figures too!

As a huge Rossi, all I can really expect is consistant podiums and the odd race win here and there, however JL99 and DP26 are on another planet and will win easy 85-95% of the races between them this season. IMO.
