It's interesting to see that Lorenzo has beaten Rossi in every stat whilst racing together. So it's not just Stoner who has beaten him head to head.

Rossi has been beaten head to head by 2 riders, Lorenzo AND Stoner.

Why and how some can still claim that Vale is still better is beyond me and defies all logic and common sense.

You cannot be better than the guys who have beaten you.

@ The Morgue, quote 'For a good comparison they should put Lorenzo on a ducati for the next two seasons'

Oooof, in that case then, just imagine what the head to head comparison stats between Stoner and Rossi would be if Rossi replaced 3 of his years on the M1 for another 2 years on the Ducati and a year on a satellite bike instead.

Now that would be funny! lol!

These are boring times for Moto GP, hopefully Rossi will be good again with Yamaha, I just hope he isn't past his best and ends his Moto GP in a sad way by failing with Yamaha.

Marco Sim was such a loss, he was the only guy with any personality, who didn't moan about racing rough like a girl that Stoner and Lorenzo do. Rossi and Marco were so alike and why people are drawn to them like people in Boxing were drawn to Tyson or people in F1 are drawn to a Hamilton and not a Vettel.

If Rossi fails this year then I fail to see any reason to continue to watch the sport, there are hardly any bikes on track and only Ped or Lorenzo can win each year from now on if Rossi does prove to be past it.

Moto GP is in need of a major overhaul, maybe they need to get Pirelli to make the tyres like F1 lol.

@ JK

Are you really using an average percentage stat to claim one rider is better?...WOW!!

Sebastian Vettel is a better MotoGP Champion than Rossi because his stats show that his win ratio is better than Valentino in the last 2 years.

Casey Stoner is greater than Agostini because in their first championship year AGo only had 3 (500cc)wins from 10 races but Stoner had 10 wins in 16 races.

Win ratio
1966 - Ago - .33
2007 - Stoner - .625

Should I keep going and manipulate stats to justify any reasoning I want?

ONLY 2 MEN IN HISTORY HAVE ACHIEVED MORE THAN 6 PREMIERE CLASS TITLES.... in 66 years of GP racing! How about that statistic for you!

Ago and Rossi!

OH and by the way....

Rossi is the only one to successfully defend his title against said competition....

another stat for you!

Wait and there is more.... The only rider in the last 12 years to OWN/HAVE/COMMANDED successive titles!

Sometimes i hate these threads...they make me sound as if i dislike JL or CS which I do not!! I have mad respect for these riders but some people make me feel as if I have to jump on the defensive and point out the obvious!!! We can all do it just as this article did. Just manaipulate the numbers you wish to see!

The per season stats are interesting and confirm Rossi picks his game up on race day.

Pole vs JLO..... JLO is better
Fastest Laps VS JLO ..... Rossi comes out on top.

Wonder why that is? Better motivation? Better focus?

You'd kind of expect at this level qualifying to be a try marker of out right pace.

@ J

LOL!!!!

What a strange post you just made.

No im not using the average percentage stat to say someone is better.

Im simply saying that head to head, Rossi has been beaten by Lorenzo and Stoner.

You cannot compare 2 riders from 2 different era's like you chose to do. You can only compare their ability against one another whilst they have been racing together.

For example, no one will EVER be able to say that Rossi is better than Ago, or that Ago was better than Rossi because they never raced together. To say one way of the other is pure speculation and opinions.

We can only use the data and stats that we know for sure, during the time they specnt on track together.

And there is no getting away from the fact that both Stoner and Lorenzo have better stats than Rossi.

So all im saying is that to say that Rossi is better than those two guys who he has been bettered by on track, is pure madness.

@ Jambob, errrrm, and what was stupid about it? LOL!

Im only stating the facts as said above.

Both Stoner AND Lorenzo have beaten Rossi head to head. What part of this do you fail to undertand? LOL!

And J (or are you jambob too?), please dont try and bring up the old 'Rossi won back to back titles' as though your trying to make Rossi look good. LOL!

Ask Rossi if he's swap his 08 and 09 back to back titles for 08 and 10 instead, but have the wins and stats that Stoner or Loreno does instead. In fact, ask him if he'd swap them for just a single win on the Ducati and the answer will be YES! So dont try and make out as though that actually means something. LOL!

Rossi fans, you gotta love em hey! Hahaha!
