@herewego, what is with the comment 'if he was that good how come he only won 2 titles'?

It's not a question of why did he not win more. Although we all know that if he was not on the Ducati for the 4 years he was, he 'could' have made it 5 titles. Just like if Rossi was not on the Ducati for the 2 years he was, he 'could' have made it 4 in that same time frame. Of course unfortunatly we will never know. And of course i could also ask a dim question.....'if Rossi is so good, how come he couldnt win more than 2 in that same time either'?

All we can base things on is the facts and the stats. And unfortuntaly for some, the on track comparison stats and facts show that no one has won more

All we can base things on is the facts and the stats. And unfortuntaly for some, the on track comparison stats and facts show that no one has won more titles than Stoner and no one has more race wins, podiums, poles etc etc.

And just to add to that, lets not forget that Rossi and Stoner raced together for 120 races, and Stoner beat Rossi in 70 of those races. Nothing can change that, no matter how hard some of you guys try. Yes Vilas and Dave, that means you too. :-)

So he's going to race v8s is he, I have yet to read about any team being interested... was stupid enough to start slagging V8 drivers off in the media before getting a drive, what an insightful individual... Expect he will go fishing

The "how many championships did they win?" debate is always fun. Kevin Schwantz for example only won one championship, it doesn't change the fact he's one of the greatest racers I've seen in my lifetime. The ultimate aim of a true racer whether on 2 or 4 wheels is to win as many races as possible. Championships are great BUT(and this has happened on more than one occasion in the past) you can win a championship without winning a race.

People will say "oh Casey only won 2 championships" so? He was 4th on the all time win list in the premier class and in the top 10 in total GP wins when he called it a day, I don't think he'll be too upset. You don't achieve what he did if you're not an exceptional racer, there's been better racers in the past and there will be better racers in future but one fact you can't argue is that he was one of if not the top racer of "his" time.

I respect Casey for his riding skills.
His performance on Duc: only he could ride over limit and control the bike. I remember one interview: I had to watch out on front end. I lost more than 10 times per lap the front end, Im lucky to be here (podium)

Since Stoner ignoring Ducati non-racing Managements not to beat Loris Capirossi in his 1st year with the Ducati, none of his teammates beat him to a WC title. Even the best teammate Pedrosa who used to beat him to the title in 250cc couldn't do it.

Stoner only lose the titles to a couple of non-teammate rivals (Rossi and Lorenzo) in him premier class. Lorenzo's lose to a rival (Stoner) and lose to a teammate (Rossi).

While Rossi lose titles to 4 non-teammate rivals (KRjr, Hayden, Stoner and Lorenzo) and also beaten by his teammate to a title (Lorenzo).

So, Stoner is never been lose to his teammate in a title challenge.

Why is it that Stoner fans always compares him to a single racer rather than the whole field? Stoner will never be a great. He even failed his own reuputation as being the fastest man on two wheels by managing only two championships in thirteen years. A "fastest rider" should have won all races and all championships. Stoner could never be successful without traction control or during the 500cc days when there were 5-10 riders battling in front for the win. Today, only 2-3 riders are usually in front. @xxx.
Everyone who knows anything about GP racing knows Casey used less traction control than anyone else. It is well documented by pit crews and fellow racers, but what would they know.
