Smart move from Honda. Now they have preempted Casey's potential move to Yahama should he decide make a comeback. That would ensure that Casey will forever be associated with Honda, similar to Lawson/Rainey & Yamaha

This interview is doing the rounds and was first published by who carry the full, un-edited version in which Nakamoto goes into more detail about his thoughts on Stoners 2012 season.

He is scathing of Caseys crash in Germany stating he should have settles for 2nd.
He reckons Stoners state of mind was affected and 8th at Mugello the following race AND the crash at Indy were a direct result.

He also states Stoners decision NOT to take the 2013 chassis, that turned Dani's season around, was stubborn and immature.

Crash & MM have both left out the bit where he gets stuck into Stoner..I wonder why?

"When Casey has confidence in himself and takes each race steadily, there is no other rider who can beat his speed. But then we had that crash in the final lap of Round Eight in Germany, and all our plans went out the window.

In that race, he didn't even need to win, finishing behind Dani would have been good enough. It was impatience that led to his crash and a no point race result. And this led to his behavior at the following GP in Italy. He couldn't calm down and get his set-up done properly, and rode a poor race to finish eighth which knocked him right back in the championship points table.

If only he had finished properly in Germany, he would likely have ridden as steadily as usual in the following races and possibly would have escaped injury in Round 11 at Indianapolis..(cont)

"..When it came to choosing his bike too, while Dani was full of praise for the new chassis, Casey reckoned it wasn't much different and stuck with the older one. It wasn't just Dani. Stefan liked the new chassis and used it for the final GP at Valencia, and when Alvaro tried it in the post season test he also declared it excellent.

Now that I think on it, pushing Casey to test the new bike after the Italy GP was maybe a mistake. I guess I should have waited a bit longer until he had regained his composure. If I'd waited, he might have been able to see things clearer and appreciate the quality of new bike.

I wouldn't say his personality is completely mature yet."

i also read the uncut version a couple weeks ago.
i really don't think there was anything nakamoto could do to stem stoners rising frustration , i believe it was coming from wanting the season to just hurry up and end so he could get out , his mind was on his kid rather than his bike , his mind was set and he'd had enough.
not sure if thats being immature , just impatiant.

"Mid-way through the 2011 season, I said to Marc “If you move up to MotoGP next year, I'll have a factory bike ready for you.” "

From the boss himself...

Had he already assumed stoner was not going to race in 2012 and moved on?

If not, how was a 3rd factory ride going to be explained after the Dovi debacle in 2011?

Or, does this explain the ultimate reason for stoners "retirement"...make way for Marc?

@Dave .
at the time he was talking about giving him a full factory satellite bike .
only some time later came the problem of satellite teams not wanting him because of wanting to keep there own long term sponsors.
not hard to see if you stop trying to over look the details trying to find a way to make stoner look weak.

even though casey didn't choose the 2013 chassis, he can still win at laguna, phillip island and almost a threat to Lorenzo in sepang, and those he still carrying the ankle pain!...just me the word immature is not quite properly choosen for describing this...dani is good. but he also did "immature" in phillip island...if not crashing out, the chance to be a champion is high...
why not nakamoto tell about dani in phillip island?
