Comparing lap times from one year to the next may make you feel good, but it makes no sense and is ultimately wrong.

Everything changes. Temperature (ambient, track, humidity), wind, tire construction, track conditions (laydown of rubber, weather removing rubber ect.) The only comparison you can make is it at the same track on the same day.

Good try at the pot shot though.

@ jerqinz,

What exacty does Stoner have to do with what Rossi has achieved (and possibly what he can still achieve)?

It appears you are attempting to diminish everything that Rossi has achieved based on a pointless measure of Rossi's ability (or lack there of) to ride the Ducati. Why? For what purpose?

And to answer your question, yes. No one achieved what Stoner did in the 800 class.

@ Wosideg

"Go and check lap/race times for 2010/2011.

Rossi was faster than Stoner @ Qatar, Estoril, Le Mans, Catalunya, Mugello, Brno, Indy & Misano."

I presume you must be talking race times because Stoner set much faster best race laps at places Like Qatar and Catalunya. Mugello was resurfaced in 2011 so not comparable. That leaves Stoner faster at Jerez, Silverstone, Assen, Sachsenring, Laguna Seca, Aragon, Motegi, Phillip Island, Sepang at Valencia, despite being given no development parts throughout the season as apposed to the multiple chassis updates Rossi received lol.

Thats pretty one sided in Stoner's favour, which is why he scored 225 points compared to Rossi's paltry 139.
