I believe that with the breath of fresh air coming from Audi and its team, Ducati will once again be up front. I try to be realistic about it, so I do not think they will be there much of it this year, but they should be making steps towards the front in the 2014 year and perhaps a winning season in 2015, Championship maybe, I do not know. They have the riders who know how to win, now it is time to dig into the bike and make it happen.

Q: Anything stopping Audi making a W4 engine?

A: Sanity.

however (comma), i've sketched a napkin. not a very efficient config in the context of power, though neither is a crossplane and we all know how that turned out. no turbos here and definitely a non-starter without desmo so that may go a long way at explaining VW's odd desire to get their throats ripped out in grandprix...?! i'm listenin', talk to me goose.

Like I said before - Dorna will have to adapt the rules to give Ducati a chance to develop a competitive motorcycle or I reckon they'll be gone in a couple of seasons, max.

Stacey only won on the bloody thing in one season. MCN quoted the downward spiral of the Ducati from ,2007 onwards It was shocking how bad it dropped off good work stacey!!! Honda only picked up when they left F1, Yamaha where the only competition. And they where so dominant Dorna changed the regulations that allowed Ducati to prosper in 2007.all this crap about stoner being the only rider to tame the beast, does anyone remember a certain Mr race one win brought said

@ kukisa "Stacey"? That childish snipe alone says it all about the value of your post.

Stoner talent was so diminished between '07 & '10 that he was able to jump straight on Honda an hammer Pedrosa (a class act who'd ridden the bike for years).

Clearly, the Ducati lost ground as HRC/Yam used their budgets, experience and expertise to develop their bikes to a level above. Casey's talent was just race day damage limitation, that no other rider (Bayliss' great one-off win excepted) has been able to replicate.

What was wrong with the steel trelis frame that loris and troy won races on? A technology they have been using for years successfuly in wsbk . Just because its simple dosent mean its not effective!

@ biqq hoss,

The steel trellis "frame" was not a full perimter frame like those in SBK. The engine was still a stressed member. The upper frame was connected directly to the engine and the swing arm was mounted directly to the engine. This has been the design since the bikes inception in 2003.

The design change to CF simply eliminated the steel trellis upper, it did not change what was connected to the engine.

In 2006 Ducati stated that (they felt) the design of the bike was perfect, and the BS tires were the only limiting factor in its performance.
