Will Andrea Dovizioso, Nicky Hayden, Ben Spies or Andrea Iannone achieve something Valentino Rossi could not - win a MotoGP race for Ducati?

@Unless they get Casey back, not a hope in hell and fact as Rossi has shown is the simple fact of the matter

this is ignorance - both bikes were different

i don't believe stoner fell from the sky or only he could ride it. ducati guys and even capirossi clarified on this.

It is so funny that some people thing Ben Spies is going to do wonders on Ducati. lol he could barely ride that M1. he for most of the last season was behind both Dovi and Cal. You must ask yourselves "Who Ben Spies is?" his premier class performance is below average.

tesla, we've been over this the 2010 bike stoner hopped off and won 3 races and had 9 total podiums with was the EXACT same one rossi was on for the first 6 races of 2011. rossi realized he couldn't make it work and changed it to cover is @$$ from the criticism of not being able to replicate stoners success. he then proceeded to make futher changes which only made the bike worse. he did the opposite of what he was supposed to do and now the ducati is a mess for dovi spies iannone and hayden, courtesy of rossi.

"Audi is made up of several companies one of which was NSU who won 4 WCs in the early fifties and for those who are not old enough the Honda Dream was an NSU Max with two cylinders, indicators and rear view mirrors.Posted by samas"
I agree completely, but the early 50's was over 60 years ago and sadly I have to say that anything learned from NSU's is No S*dding Use in todays electronically advanced pits and design offices.

Jerginz, your argument is pointless. If you want to play that game... Rossi, as a young man raced for Repsol Honda (the best bike at the time) for 2 seasons and won 2 titles. Stoner raced on a Repsol Honda for 2 years (still the fastest bike) and won 1 title.

Why didn't Stoner blitz everyone in 2012? He did the year before! Don't blame the bike asPedrosa was beating him before his accident. Why?

jds, that was the start of the 990cc era when rossi was the only one to adapt so quicky(much unlike his adaptation to ducati). plus who was the competition back then? gibernau? biaggi? capirossi? and how many titles did they win in motogp? stoner was up against a much more competitive group and you know it. Let me ask you some questions.. why was rossi unable to get even a single win with ducati over 2 years? being the "goat" he should have had at LEAST 1, right? why was stoners worst year on a ducati way better than rossi's best?

@ 99 and 31 wins....you are both right in what you say, I still don't think he would win on the present Ducati. In 2010 it wasn't easy for him, he didn't podium until his 6th race and had his first win in his 13th, If he came back it would not be any easier. Anyway how would you motivate him?

Maybe Troy would fare better, he won on his first race for them.

Will Ducati win this year? No, not even with Casey on board.

Also, its a bit unfair to compare successes from past eras to recent times. case in point: stoner in only his 2nd year in motogp, 1st year with ducati, won the title. rossi, with all his prior years of gp experience and titles, only managed 1 podium in his 1st year at ducati.. a bit unfair right? my point is a lot of things have happened between 2003-now. the competition increased as well as the bikes becoming a lot more closer in performance, save for the gp11.1, gp12 and probably the gp13.

@codger, I think he would be capable of at least 1 win, if not, wouldn't you agree that he would be on the podium much more frequently than hayden/rossi have been these last two years? I mean 9 podiums and 3 wins in 2010 is a promising outlook for those kind of results should he have stayed with ducati.
