MotoGP » Gremlins limit track time for CRT teams at Sepang

Only Danilo Petrucci is able to put in some meaningful lap times on the first day of a special test for the CRT teams using the 'standard' ECU in 2013...

Comedy of errors. I know that these guys need rides, but this is sad. I really feel for RDP and CEII. Excellent riders that will never see anything better than 8th place. Honestly, RDP would be better off finishing his career in WSBK and Colin would be better off finishing up in the AMA.

Valentino Rossi Ducati Team 2:01.550

Feb 2nd 2012

No, they are quite far behind him too. I dont expect the CRT bikes to get any closer than 1.6-1.8 seconds this year. Espargaro qualified 2.5 seconds off 2 minutes last year.

At the test last year, Edwards was quickest ranging from 3.2 to 3.7 seconds. I suspect Ducati will force an engine redesign in order to make the balance work a little better on that bike, so Tech 3 will probably have the better of Ducati before the second half of the year, and Ben Spies will be about where he was last year at Qatar, unfortunately (tires.)

Unless hes getting tips from Casey.

we're in a catch 22 situation, cos to improve these bikes you need the best riders on them but the best riders don't want to be on them as they're so far back.

Can any of these teams please explain why their bikes had not been assembled, tested, and ridden around the parking lot sometime back in January? Good work Ezzy, your pet class is a massive clusterfuck.

This whole CRT-system turned me of MotoGP half way throght last season and I didn't watch a race since and I for sure wont watch any races in 2013. I would actually prefer just seeing the 12 proper bikes running alone, that trying to get excited about slow bikes with no motorsport-sport history to their names. Hope Suzuki and Aprilia will return with with proper bikes, otherwise MotoGP is dead as a sport IMHO.
