@ JDW....With repect, you are showing your anti Rossi feelings a bit too early in the proceedings. He wasn't chasing fast laps.

“But I did a 2m 2.0s (matching the official race lap record) with 27 laps on the rear tyre - seven laps more than a race - so for me race distance is not a concern.”

Being 4th is no big deal, as well you know. Oh well, I took the bait I suppose.

@wild shy
Keh?...
Do you really think the Ducati is the best bike... Have you looked at the times? Any of the times?

Valentino did his best but if the engineers are not listening then that can hardly be thrown at him.

And before the haters start - I love the Ducati but however you play it - it is not competitive.

And I don't care if its frames tyres engines whatever. Since 2007 its been going downhill.

The man is a genius and anyone who has seen him decimate some of the best riders in the world on sometimes it has to be said less than stellar equipment knows that.

I take away nothing from any of the top riders but at the end of the day the record speaks for itself.

It's so much fun everybody already saying he's 0,4 sec off the pace of the number one.
Rossi said already that he wasn't pushing hard because there are 2 more days left and he didn't want to do things that would be in the way of the other 2 days of testing. And for further notice the best lap was ridden on the 27th lap on the same tyres he started with.
What does this say? Even when the tyres or almost ready for the dumpster he can bring in decent laps. Just read the article how you should read it it's not written in chinese. Rossi is testing bits and adjustments and the bike isn't at the 100% Rossi wants it to be. Although the big gap, Rossi will improve a lot more than the other 3 will do, just watch....This is how Rossi works

so many rossi fans here, where have you been since 2011? haha...

nothing special about rossi being at the top, it just further proof that he need a good bike to fight...all the myths before this (ride around problems, 80% rider, 20% bike) are just bullshit...at least stoner give something to ducati...rossi? its a shame he is Italian and cannot fight on a Italian bike...

and to those who are saying stoner is giving up, jump ship also a part of giving up...just saying...

@pcuser271

We have been here all along waiting for the day he gets back on something sensible.

We were also probably busy out racing while the super fans were on the keyboards and Rossi does a self imposed penance for nothing more than nostalgia - having said that you have to admire the mans commitment because I and mot others would have walked long ago... Bit like Moaner did. And it was going well for him!

I don't know why people are so excited about Rossi coming in last of the 4 works bikes behind a rookie.He will never win another Moto GP race, he'll be battling Marquez and Bradl for the podium. 0.4 off the pace is huge at this level, and he must be asking himself where do I find 4/10ths?... and for sure you know he was riding at his limit as he had lots to prove. Sorry folks but Dani is starting the season exactly where he left off last year... in first place.
