Still can't believe he got the tech3 ride, he's got alot to prove.

Not yet though, its only day 1 and it will be interesting to see how Smith progresses as the times drop. He's only 1 tenth off Hayden but after Hayden there is a 1.4 second gap up to Bautista. Smith needs to move away from the Ducati's and close up to the satellite bikes. I reckon finishing ahead of the Ducati's and not being extremely far behind the satellite yams and Honda's should be his goal this season, any more than that would be impressive

Seems like a nice enough kid, and for competition's sake, I really hope he can place that bike where it belongs. There's already enough grid filler out there (Ducati's included) that we don't need one of the better bikes languishing at the back of the pack.

Still, he's behind the test riders, so....

I think people are missing the fact that he is only 100 laps into his motogp career. Pushing for the all important lap time is the last thing on the list of things to do at the moment. Marquez who he inevitably be compared to has in addition to his prodigious talent had a private Sepang test to assist in his acclimation to the category as well as full works data and support. Far too early to pass judgement in my opinion.

ts up to the managers to make responsible when picking riders for the job.
This kid is out of his depth here and these bikes are very dangerous.
Hes a very likable young man but lets keep it that way.

He was fighting for podiums regularly in 125 & 1st season of Moto 2. Even in his past 2 disapointing seasons, he's still wiped the floor with quick team mates. Tech 3 see the data. They see Lorenzo's data. I trust Herves opinion more than my own with this lad!

At the feet of the golden child is probably the best bike on the grid and 2 extra full days of testing.

At the feet of Alvaro is years of riding this class and a eqivalent or if not a better bike

I put Brad mixing it with the Ducatis a few days ago so to be behind just 1 is job done on his first day.
I also said MM believes he can ride his bike and Brad believes he needs to learn how to ride his.So at the end of the test i'm gonna say Brad will be ahead of the Ducs and breathing down the neck of Alvaro.

Fingers crossed for good weather to the end of the test.
