While its great that Cal is upbeat, I'm pretty sure he's being overly optimistic about the whole 'anyone in the top 7 can win a race' thing.

That'll only happen (in the dry for certain IMO) if a freak event wipes out ALL the HRC /Yam factory bikes first. The factory bikes have too much of everything going their way, & the chances of all 4 missiles being AWOL is pretty remote.

For Cal's optimism to be realistic, then you'd need the top 7 to be consistently within a tiny fraction of the times. Being 0.5s off on average will only mean you finish a 10s or so behind at the guy taking the chequered.

The HRC /Yam factory riders have advantages it is IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to overcome - as I've said so often - they are in an entirely different event - the others just happen to be on track at the same time. You might just as well run WSBK, WSTK & WSS together in the same event - it'd then be as stratified and uncompetitive as a MotoGP 'race'.

Just do the best you can Cal and a top 5 is about the best you will do on a satellite bike. Just be thankful you did not get a Ducati ride otherwise you would be lucky to get into the top 10. Unfortunately even if you finish top 5 this year I dont know where you next ride will come from.
