I'm a bit surprised that Rossi is that close already. Am I starting to hear the footsteps of little trolls, rats and haters scurrying for their holes. Lets hope that Rossi's results will make them do just that.

Being a Rossi fan I am pessimistic about his future,he is barely ahead of Marquez and Crutchlow on a non works bike !My fear is that his wins came at a time of lesser opposition .The one good thing is that Stoner is not there and much as I am a non fan have to accept he was the fastest thing I have ever seen on two wheels .Lets hope Rossi has a good season at the very least ,because he always brings something to the sport .Like other sports ,the young lions are always raising the game , it is the way of all sport.

@ Stavros

How many championships did Stoner defend on ANY motorcycle in ANY class?

And seeing as you're here, please tell me at which point winning on the Ducati became the pinnacle of motorcycle racing, the accolade that every motorcycle racer aspires to achieve?

Tetley thanks for the update on Ducati it's sad they're not improving but that's there own fault as Honda and Yamaha are constantly improving components on their bikes to give their riders the best equipment they can to compete. Ducati rolled out the same bike they had at the end of last year. Yamaha brought last year's bike with improvements plus a new bike. Unless Ducati puts in the same effort then of course they're doomed to have same or worse results. And you're right Rossi made the right choice.

I find the start of this season much more exciting that 2012 good luck to all riders, we have a solid top 6 riders it will be fun to watch, dark horse for me is Stefan Bradl, remember he beat Marquez in Moto 2 two years ago and is only 2 tenths behind him on a lesser Honda powered bike...

-Rossi's remaining fear was that he might drop away due to the rate of improvement by Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo as the test went on-

Pedrosa and Lorenzo both set their fastest Thursday times on their 4th lap, and then did simulations.
Rossi's quickest time was much later on Thursday, on lap 43 of 60.
