RobG you forget that Jlo and Pedro have been on this bike for over one year hence their familiarity with it. Rossi rode if for the first time this test. While you may hate Rossi you can't deny that being 1 tenth behind his Championship winning team-mate isn't impressive especially considering what a beating his confidence has had over the past two years on the Duc.

We can talk about different era's all day long the fact is there is always a special rider who makes the most of their career.
Agostini, Doohan, Rossi dominant riders in their prime.

Pedrosa has not won the premier class title yet.
Lorenzo has not won back to back titles yet
Stoner did not win back to back titles either.

So statiscally i wouldn't say this era is any better than previous ones.

Based on the 3 test days it looks like Dani will dominate this season. Third of a second faster than Lorenzo the world champion! That is HUGE! The Yamaha camp must be wondering where do they find that time? Respectable time by Rossi, but sorry, it looks like he'll be fighting Marquez for that third spot on the podium. I somehow get the feeling he would be happy with that after the humbling experience at Ducati. Rossi & Burgess seriously underestimated Stoner's riding ability.

AN4REW.while I can see some merit in your last comment, there are now more great riders together at the same time and this makes multiple championships much more difficult. But this does not in any way devalue the riders you have mentioned from the past, we are just on a different playing field today , it is so difficult to remain dominant .As I have said earlier the fastest rider I have seen is easily Stoner and while Iadmire him I would not be his greatest fan.Good luck to Rossi ,but I like the gritty racers like Crutchlow working hard on lesser bikes

Rossi is great and everything, but Lorenzo is the man to beat followed by pedro. Rossi will get the scraps and pick up a few wins for sure but his championship days are far behind him.

A candid assessment from Rossi,Its good to see that he's been able to adapt back to the yamaha, he seems to have banished those belief demons too, we know he has the consistancy over race distance ( how many times have we seen him getting faster as the tyres wore out when others went backwards?. His race craft has always made up for poor qualifying and I cant see that changing this year.
Its also good to see him praising his main competitors too! Maybe the Ducati experiance has tought him humility, but then again maybe he's back with the mind games, only race weekend will show? in any case, Its good to see him Rossi looking relaxed and happy again.
