(continued) What Opera realised is that if they want to be competitive - they need to change fundamentally and constantly need to adapt to changes.

Meanwhile, Ducati is still unable to understand that there changes need to be fundamental from the groundup, and not adding bits of pieces here and there. Ducati is only going to be as fast as a second off from Yamaha and Honda at their best.
Ducati needs to stop being stubborn and let go of its current design and learn from Honda an Yamaha designs. It might hurt Ducati's pride to copy the Japanese, but they just have to swallow it, if not this year might be the last we see of the Red, and we might have to wait another 30 years to see them back again, just like until 2003.

I like to compare the motogp bikes to internet browsers: if anyone is little bit techy enough, you'll understand. First, Honda is like Chrome, constantly updating - very fast paced evolution, always very fast. And, Yamaha is like Firefox, a bit slower than Honda to make changes just like Firefox to Chrome. But, when Yamaha evolves, it's always for the better. Now arguably, Chrome and Firefox are the best web browsers and without any arguments, Honda and Yamaha are the best bikes in motogp.

This brings me to Ducati which I like to compare to Opera, which always has had its niche and a small crowd of a following. It has had its hay days, but now is in a state of crisis for the past 3-4 years, only getting worse - every minute.

So what is the solution - Ducati needs to understand what Opera have understood recently. Opera knew they were never going to be as fast as Chrome or Firefox with their own 'Presto' engine - so they ditched it and will be using 'Webkit' just like Chrome. What Ope

Dave....quote '...and spat him off on the warm up lap of the 4th. It was still capable of looking uncompetitive with an extraordinary talent like stoner and then confirmed uncompetitive with an extraordinary talent like rossi '

Very true, but the difference being that Stoner was capable of making the Ducati look competitve multiple times, whereas Rossi was simply not capable of that.

Yes we all know that Rossi is good, but he only just managed to beat Hayden. Yes Hayden is a good rider too, but its clearly evident that Stoner is a notch above them for sure.

As much a some people dont lie to beleive it, there is no getting away from the fact tat Stoner beat Rossi on track more times than Rossi beat him.

So please please please lets now put this Stoner V Rossi thing to bed because it was known by most before Rossi jumped on the Ducati in Valencia 2010, but it was cemented in stone thereafter.

The way I see it,Casey Stoner wont last 5 minutes in the V8 series and will want to come back to MotoGP. Ducati will have another dire year and will plead with Stoner and offer him a fortune to ride their bike as he has been the only one able to. Whether or not Stoner can still ride the thing will be a different story and Stoner might not want to risk his glowing reputation as the only rider to ever win on the Desmo and he might also like to remain in one piece so might refuse. One way or another, Ducati will continue to fail dismally, and Stoner will be back with his tail between his legs and a load of excuses regarding his return!!

Just read what Gobmeier had to say following the recent test. He was surprised it is as bad as it is. Guess he wasn't paying attention during the last 6 months. He says they'll approach the problems with baby steps. know, I know, the correct approach for a classically trained engineer and best for pocketbook. But SERIOUSLY, the bike is a pig!

Dani has been on the same bike for 8 years... Casey ANNIHILATED him (and everyone else) in his FIRST year on the bike. Then, unless you forgot, he had a massive crash that rendered him out of the fight last year. As for Ducati, it's a miracle it won a championship in the first place!

What you, and so many others seem to forget (or conveniently cast aside) is that Casey didn't only have the 2007 title, he also had the most wins in the 800cc era... OF ANYONE! Including Rossi, Lorenzo and Pedro on (as so many people have made clear) FAR SUPERIOR BIKES. The Ducati could win, but seeing all these other top tier riders nowhere brings into light exactly how amazing it is what Stoner did on it, specially when he got very little in way of development from Duc. (Maybe that's why he "moaned"?) Either way, Ducati need to up their game in a big way.
