Torn on this one. Always enjoyed his riding style, never enjoyed the attitude. Part of me is glad looking forwards to the first season in a long time without his negativity and attitude and instead watching riders who are exciting and excited to ride, with positive attitudes who actually seem to enjoy riding the bikes. However, given Marquez' blistering pace so far, if this translates into race performance I would love to see Stoner up against him. Not at PI though but a more neutral track. I also think the positive press and response that Marquez gets from the other riders and journo's will grate on Stoner as he will feel he never got this. Here's an idea of why...www.superbikeplanet.com/2013/Mar/130315-93x.htm

Yes, Stoner is the outlier, but he wins diminished from 10, to 6, to 4 and down to 3 during his final year. If we were to deduce from what is on record, Casey Stoner "might' not be able to win on the Ducati at all now. So there is merit to questioning the quip.

What's odd is Stoner's eerie similiarity in terms of declining race wins. Ten during his first year on the RCV down to 5 during his second year.

If Stoner said he won't, it means he will.

- "I'm not retiring" ......Retired!
- "I'm not going to V8 racing" .......is now V8 racing!
- "I'm not going to wildcard" .....we'll see him at P.I.!

A refreshed Stoner back on a resurfaced Philip Island against hot shot Marquez and Rossi on a competitive ride, along with Pedrosa and Lorenzo! Yes please! I'm buying my tickets now, it's exactly what the sport needs.
