Gee Slidey that sounds awfully like the Honda in 2011-12 which Stoner took to back to back titles oh thats right. The reason the achievement matters is because very many great riders have been unable to do it including Stoner who certainly with Honda had every opportunity to do so.

@xxx, ah right. Ok then.

I cant seem to find your answer to the Hayden/Pedrosa question though.

Or in fact the reasons why you think Rossi has done better than Stoner in that time.

Anyone else feel free to add to this 'debate' with answers to the above questions?

Im looking forward to hearing peoples thoughts on this, seem as though the lame total titles comparisons come out to play when they have nothing relevant to add. :-)

@Vilas,

I agree with what you say about Hayden of course, it was a well deserved title. But are you saying that you seriously think that Hayden is a better rider than Pedrosa? This is why titles dont tell the whole story, especiaslly if they were won when the other rider was not even on the grid. Its ludicrous.

You say Stoner has never performed so good year after year? Then you say Rossi has?

Stoner has not failed to win a race with multiple podiums each and every year he has been on factory equipment. Hey he even managed to get the LCR honda on the podium and run at front on occassions.

Ok so you also say that Stoner 'failed badly in 2012 with HRC'?

Lets not forget that he still finsihed 3rd overall with 10 podiums and 5 wins, despite being injured and out for 3 races.

If thats 'failing big', then i wonder what you will say about Rossi if he fails to do better with the M1. If he doesnt get more than 10 podiums and 5 wins, will Rossi have 'failed big' too?

Stoner was a bit like Rossi when he arrive on 500cc, or like Simoncelli or like bradl, talente riders that allways have put the factory brands waching them.. if you notice on Stoner history the same manager that was helping Pedrosa on 250cc and allways on motogp i dont remember the name of the person was the same that wach Stoner and help him building is carear inside motogp.. We are talcking about talente riders no doubt about that.. now do you think that Stoner did any better then Rossi?? is your opinian, i allready tell you about fastest laps that is obivius that Stoner is good on that but Stoner dont have the same levels of consistenci that guys like Rossi have most of is carear only on this times where Ducati that is really an harder chanlllage on this times Rossi could not be a contender but he allways a contender and even him 2010 he also finish 3 and miss races because of injury.. Lorenzo prove to be the best younger no matter what you think is consistenci im 2012 and si

Soo for me Stoner will allways be the never know rider is gone is history right now and he left witouht winning more then other riders soo End of Story

@Vilas,

I agree 100% that right now Lorenzo is a better rider than both Rossi and Stoner, that goes without saying. Will that chance in 2013? I doubt it, but if Rossi does beat Lorenzo fair and square then ill give Rossi the credit he desetves, regardless of whether or not people say he did or did not deserve the Yamaha ride (but thats another story entirely).

Regarding this whole Rossi V Stoner thing, its pretty obvious to 95% of people in the know who is he better rider of the two.

What about the questions i asked Vilas? Pedrosa/Hayden? Who is better?

Also, theres no reason to suggest that Rossi is a better rider than Stoner since he has not managed to beat him overall on anything in that time.

Stoner has beaten Rossi on many many things in this same time, regardless of machinary, and there are many many reasons that suggest Stoner is the better rider of the two, which cannot be said for Rossi.

Stoner was injured last year you muppet, at just after the halfway mark of the season which ended his title hopes, which has happened to all the aliens including Rossi.. At the end of the day he stepped into Honda and won the title straight away, and over the full two year period he was Pedrosa's teammate he comprehensively outperformed him stats wise, just as he did while he was on the Ducati.

You go on about this back to back title theory, but how many titles did Rossi win consecutively on the Ducati. Better yet how many consecutive races did he win on it, or podiums even? And that's the bike Stoner was riding for the majority of his time in MotoGP. It was an incredible feat of talent to have the succes he did on that bike, just ask any of his teammates. Stoner only had two years on the Factory Honda, Rossi has spent 10 SEASONS on either a factory Honda or Factory Yam, and many of his titles were against much weaker opposition with an unfair tyre advantage over much of he

There s no point here m8, you think Stoner was best rider, its ok its your opinian.. For what i like on one rider my favorit is Rossi and with one bike that suit is style for me is the best and for me will be the Champion this year even with one rival so strong like Lorenzo.. For me Rossi is the best package possible im one rider and will be until he deside to retire but for now let us wach 2013... I have big respect for lorenzo i love is style riding and i love even more when the rider is totaly focus on the target avoiding mistakes at any cost and 4sure Lorenzo will be the type of rider that will colect even more titles but like i say before this year for me is for Rossi... About Hayden and Pedrosa honestly i dunno what to say, for me Hayden was lucky but he grab is chance he had one factory bike and even if he didnt have won he would finish 2 but he won and can say was 2006 Motogp Champion, now Pedrosa the little kid that was treated with all the pampering allways on the sam

same factory Team and fail to at least one time be World Champion.. it has to come lorenzo to weack up him to performe with more atitude to be more focus!! Pedrosa had show fragile rider.. is mentalaty on perssure dont worck so well, i know Pedrosa is a better rider then Hayden but Hayden prove is point at least one time even with luke.. Pedrosa never prove is point!! i think they are all fast and 4sure Pedrosa is faster rider then hayden and better rider also but sometimes he desapoints a lot On pressure.. The crash he had last year on philip island was to bad for me.. One rider like him can t fail like that...
