Histroy will be the judge of Rossi. Was he a great rider or, was he a good rider with great machinery .

My belief Rossi will be judged harshly if he does not win another Championship, so expect a bit of paint swapping.

Will Rossi give credit for the M1 development to JL or will he claim it the bike is relatively unchanged since he left.

@ Martin

The only people who are going to "harshly" judge Rossi are the riders who will never achieve what he has, who have never/will never have a factory ride, fans of said riders, etc. Anybody who is "impartial" - and that's a key word - value Rossi as much as any/every other rider who has graced the world stage and done good. Machinery doesn't make a "good" rider win races/championships. Great machinery helps an "extraordinary" rider win races and championships. A good cook with a cookbook still won't make better food than a Chef.

If we are to believe Furasawa, the M1 is - more or less - the same minus some tweeks and some extra CC's. The current bike is not a revolution. It's more like a minor overhaul.

P.S. Your Armstrong analogy doesn't work well here.

there is nothing wrong with what he said at all.
it's plain and simple really , it was vale that walked out of yamaha spitting and thinking yamaha were on the wrong and planning to beat them up on the ducati , turned out more than a little different and a beat up vale now gets to walk back in to yamaha on the championship winning bike.
it was truly a magical trick to be let back in the door as max says , or , there was indeed a helping hand involved from someone that wants to get the bank up again.
magic is an art that tricks the mind into seeing something other than what really happened , so maybe someone else is the copperfield and vale was merely the subject for the act.

Unlicke Honda Rossi never left yamaha with hard feelings, if so why he writte a letter to is bike and was so thankfull for all the time he pass him Yamaha and to all people there, that he never forget and was allways friend.. I think on rossi mind he need to change from time to time to feel again one rider, riding allways te same bike for him that Win so much he must get a bit He did is bet was part of a dream to Win at Motogp with one italian Team like it was with Aprilia on smmaler classes but was the wrong bet, its clear that Ducati project has a lot of problems and people inside Ducati dont know exacly what to change to improve what its need to be competitive we are talckng about secunds diferente is not the end of the World but is very dificult to achieve the perfection of japonese brands projects.. Rossi is on top phisical form even with the Age that can weight a bit Rossi is there and is for Win nothingh more, when he feel that he is not capable anymore he wil

r Win nothingh more, when he feel that he is not capable anymore he will leave because he dont see any point on racing without having the Win him mind.. Rossi is the GOAT

ps even with Honda Rossi has no hard feelings he prove is point at the right time him 2004.. Honda allways admire Rossi and Rossi has the same feeling about them Honda build incredible bikes just what Rossi love

By your analogy an extraordinary Chef can only make a great meal when he has the best cook book that is available. If he does not have best cook book then he can barely manage bangers and mash.
In reference to Rossi if any one dare to say a negative word about him the Media attacks that person. When has the media ever run a consistent negative story on Rossi, never, because he never does anything wrong. Not even during two years at Ducati. Do not question the GOAT.
History is always the best judge

Ben wasnt very slow in testing, or as slow as his race pace would suggest, Rossi most likely is riding the same bike Jorge is, and that IS NOT THE SAME BIKE he left, it is much different and Rossi will have to work hard to not have to fight that bike during the whole of a race and to keep his tires, the areas where Spies really had troubles. He will get more support than Spies, but the way that bike has to be ridden is counter to Rossi's philosophy which involves heavy braking.

Dont expect Rossi to win anything till after the half of the season unless Bridgestone are working exclusively for him like they did in 2008.
