you're both wrong.. prof x, nobody on a ducati could battle stoner. hayden getting a rare podium is not quite "battling". and realist, within the 1st 6 races of the '11 season, before the 11.1, both rossi and hayden had 1 podium, if you want to split hairs, rossi finished ahead of hayden 2 more times... not significantly better by any means. If anyone is to blame for the misfortunes of the ducati, its stoner, he made that piece 'o cripe look like a competitive bike when in reality, as rossi has shown us, it was far from competitive. ducati didn't listen to stoner because he was still winning on it so why change it? stoner leaves, rossi comes in with JB, they find out quite quickly its not competitve, change it up a bunch of times, still no success, then leave a messed up bike for dovi spies hayen and AI

@larry

Hayden was on his third season by the time Rossi showed up. Considering how many DNFs Rossi had by the end of the season (not including the Aragon incident) Rossi marmalized Hayden on the duc in terms of positions and points.

So if he's 8th by seasons end its a draw lol
After watching WSBK last night I almost wish Spies had of returned to that series to ride the Panigale,Race 1 was excellent except for Checas/Melandri's huge off,Close Racing!!

@ prof-x

lol, hauded said in miltiple occasions "this is the best Dicati ever" obsession right?

plus he had 3 yars chance of developing something, but what's happened? lol if you try a little harder you ser that you cannot compare guy like nicky with only 3 wins to someone who has more than 100 wins.

nikisan, bottom line: they each had a podium and rossi should be finishing ahead of hayden anyways due to talent. hayden has always been able to get at least a podium per year with ducati up until 2012 thus proving the bikes performance went downhill with rossi. I wouldn't call getting the same ammount of podiums as another rider, "marmalizing". rossi finishing 7th while hayden finishes 9th... come on.

If Rossi can't ride it, nobody can. I chuckle when the Aussies come out of the woodwork claiming Stoner could win on THIS bike. Wouldnt happen. Stoner caught lightning-in-a-bottle with the 2007 Duc - a bike with awesome speed matched perfectly to Bridgestones. It was the best bike in the paddock. He took the bike massively backwards since then, or, more preceisely, Ducati took the bike backwards by not listening to their rider. Yamaha and Honda caught up and passed Ducati by a mile, and Stoner bailed. Don't blame him.

Dovi, Hayden and Spies, 3 superb riders, will be battling with the CRTs while Rossi wins an 11th championship. Stoner quit while he was ahead, and, gifted the Duc in 07 and the Honda in 2011, history will judge him one of the fastest but also the luckiest riders ever.

joeb, rossi will not be winning another championship due to his teamate. just look at 2010, lorenzo finished ahead of rossi 11 times to rossis 3. even before rossi was injured, 99 was leading the standings.. and he has only improved since then. In 2012, he didnt finish a race outside the top 2. If this were the early 2000's, I would completely agree with you, but rossi is a bit past his prime while lorenzo seemingly hasnt reached his peak yet. I have no doubt rossi will be winning a few races, but the ones he does win, jlo will be on the podium for. its all about consistency and right now I just don't see rossi week in and week out being capable of bringing it to jlo. Of the 4 riders capable of winning races, jlo will be the one who makes the least errors and will finish within the top 2 the most, which is why he will be 1st come seasons end this yea.

Johnson, If it's all about consistency(of course it is) then Rossi will win this years championship(next year as well). There has never been a more consistent rider in the history of two wheeled motorsports. Lorenzo is consistent but for a rider at his peak he just can't make wins happen like Rossi. He tried in the last five races of last year and failed, not to mention the rookie-style crash while passing a backmarker at Valencia. Lorenzo is good but Rossi IS the GOAT. BTW, I'd love to see some magic from Spies this year.
