MotoGP » Valentino Rossi 'pays a high price' for traction

"We were able to improve the traction a bit, but we lost the good balance of the M1. So we paid a high price" – Valentino Rossi.

2 things will come out of MotoGP 2013 and will get the most press etc

Either Rossi will do well in 2013 and his fans will say "I told you so" etc and his haters will credit the bike and bring up Ducati and Stoner again and again (he ran away after 2 WC's. Never forget that!)...

Or

Rossi will fail, and his fans (including me) will conceed he is past it. His haters will have a field day. I don't care. Have supported #46 for 12 years now and will continue to do so. Go Vale #46!!!

@ LifeLong46Fan

What exactly constitutes failing? As I see it, if he lands in the top 3 at the end of the season, he has done well and proven that he still has what it takes to ride at the pointy end. If he pulls off a championship win, he will have seriously pulled a rabbit out of the hat (..which isn't meant to imply that I think he is incapable by any means). The Rossi haters will lament anything other than a championship win as a "failure" and claim that he's "past it", "should retire" or whatever.

..and you're right, if he does win races (which I'm sure he'll win quite a few) or the championship, the haters will constantly bring up the pitfalls of the Ducati because they dislike him. The more reasonable members will let it be because they know that, outside of our favorite Australian outlier, nobody else would succeed on it either.....and even HE might have a problem winning on it today. We'll never know though!

Until Jorge Lorenzo proves himself on the Ducati, he cannot be considered a true champion. Even Valention Rossi who is a nine time champion is not a true champion......Goat on Ducati.

Yet another truly ridiculous comment.Of course these guys are true champions. The way things are going,if true champion status is only earned on a Ducati, then it may be a while till we have another. In the meantime we will have to put up with fake champions i guess!
