Good to see Rossi still in touch on a flying lap with a soft tyre. He can still ride a bike, but its the race simulations where he's going to struggle.

According to Matthew Birt though, him and Marquez were tailing each other for a good few laps. That would have been fun to watch.

JL and DP are clear favorites. Maybe Rossi and Marquez have already figured out THEIR season is going to be a battle between the 2 of them for podiums and reap any spoils they can which DP and JL leave.

Stefan and Cal will be up for a play too.

@ Hemmy - If Rossi was 0.6 behind 4th place, you'd be scoffing at him and laughing.

But because Dovi is 0.6 behind Rossi...he's in touch?????

Please explain the difference?

Generally Rossi had a faster race pace. he never was a pole or fastest lap rider as Pedrobot or Moaner but his racecraft is better. if he can get in front, lets see if he can keep the young guys behind

"This is TESTING everyone of these front guys can and will go much faster on race day if the conditions are right."

Well done to the top 6. I'm sure alot of new data is available to their respective teams.
Does look at the moment like HRC has the bike to beat.
Soft tyres were the hoop of choice during the last hour or so.
(Not quite a qualifier but you'd also have to allow for the time of day and track temp etc.)
Great to see the Ducati's of Dovi and Nicky closing the gap bit by bit.
End of the year could have them alot closer.

Seems to me some on these pages have an agenda which totaly revolves around sh*tstirring. Grow up and have some respect, fools.

Thats very impressive times for both Teams Honda and Yamaha factory, last year Honda was the bike to beat since the middle of the sesson that the Honda was clearly fast on aceleration then Yamaha... Its an interesting VS on this mach because yamaha is know to be soft and maybe can deal better the tyres, also there riders are very well know for there consistenci and fighting spirit, wille on the Honda we have the the more weack Pedrosa that normaly fail at some point even if he is so fast and we have to Super Roockie Marquez.. Very dificult to predict the winners here but for me Yamaha Team will be the stronger!! Now riders that are desapointing a bit even if this is a practice i was expecting a better place for Bradl but aim confidente he will be better on race day and also Ben Spies is a bit lost.. Very interesting year thats 4sure

"last year Honda was the bike to beat since the middle of the sesson"

Wrong, Honda was the bike to beat from the start of the season until the new softer carcass tyre was forced upon them. Looking at the times set today, i wouldn't put it past Dorna to throw another stick in the Honda spokes

Judging from the laptimes I think Cal and Valentino are going to have some interesting battles this year. Hopefully Cal stays on because he has a habit of overdoing it under pressure.
Lorenzo still my bet for the title though.
