After 2 years riding a donkey, it takes a little time to get used to a thoroughbred. The Doncati will have had some effect on VR46's riding style and he'll probably have to get rid of some bad habits.
Also, when so much time is lost due to mechanical / electrical / electronic gremlins, then the acclimatisation period gets longer.
Despite this VR46 is within 0.07 secs of JLo's best. Vale will get faster as he gets settled in and gets the bike tweaked to his preference.
He will also play the will he / won't he publicity to maximum effect and keep everyone guessing.
We should also remember that Yamaha are being vague about gearbox development, yet even Jlo says the bike would be better with seamless shift. With the top four so close, the Yamaha gearbox may well be the pivotal crteria in the championship.
I think ALL the top four riders will get wins this year, and the Championship may be decided by the other podium places.

profx, you have some good points sometimes but I can guarantee you that pedrosa will not be winning 10-14 races this year. At MOST I would give him 7 but even that is a stretch. The most he has ever won in a season was 7. 10-14 would be quite the jump especially now that rossi is competitive and marquez is here. There is only 18 races in the season, to say he will win 10-14/18, I think you've lost it man. He's good, not that good though.

@larry ,why do people only name marquez, rossi as a threat when there are many contendors for the top 3 in the races, like crutchlow, bradl, bautista are there?

Well because brs, I wasn't talking about top 3 finishes now was I? I was talking about WINS. Im well aware there are other riders capable of challenging for top 3 finishes. Seeing as a satellite rider hasn't been able to win since 06, I'd say that about rules out crutch/bautista/bradl from winning. (Although even if they were on factory bikes I still think they couldn't win due to talent or lack thereof) but that's another discussion entirely.

yes larry,you're right.
well,I also think pedrosa wins 5 or more,it will be very good job by him.
I don't see him winning more than 5 this time

@ brs

Because REALISTICALLY, outside of Lorenzo, Rossi, Marquez and Pedrosa, I'd wager that only Bradl and Crutchlow will/can put up a consistent fight to capitalize on a mistake made by one of the top 4.
