'although I was only sixth quickest today I actually think I could have been fastest' - Cal Crutchlow

Cal is fast. Especially in testing and practice. He rides hard. I don't know if I agree with him in thinking he could have been fastest overall though.

Good for Crutchlow. He rode his heart out last year, and was canned by certain sicko-fan(t)s for falling off. I hope he gives the front runners a good run for their money. I think he should have a shot at a factory ride with Yamaha.

Crutchlow is fast, but only over one lap. His race-pace has never been anything special. It was the same in WSBK. That's why Dovi beat him comprehensibly in the championship last year, despite Crutchlow dominating him qualifying. And Crutchlow on a factory Yamaha wouldn't do any better than he did last year, or any better than Dovi did on a factory Honda. People always over-exaggerate the difference between factory and Satellite bikes. Spies did barely any better on the factory Yamaha compared to his Tech 3 bike. Dovi scored just 10 points and 1 podium less on the Tech3 Yamaha, than on the factory Honda.

@ Realist

Apparently, so does the Ducati... Dovi has cut the deficit to the front from 2.3sec to 1.08sec... That looks like improvement from where I'm standing?!

CAL IS SUPER TALENT! Nice to see some people getting behind him at last (as, last year, all you could read about him was hate on this sight (Kinda like Sykes...))

Good luck Cal, without Casey there, will be my number one this year.

Yes, he was beaten by Dovi, but it wasn't as COMPREHENSIVELY as you put it. You make it sound like Dovi wiped the floor with him. You seem to forget that Crutchlow and Dovi had some CRACKING battles last year, and Crutchlow JUST couldn't get passed (And that against the BEST braker on the grid, BAR NONE!). You're also comparing someone in their SECOND year in MotoGP to someone in their FIFTH year, big difference there mate. Experience means a LOT in this game.

Getting beat by more than 60 points is getting beat comprehensively, or how would you put it Nick ??? Check Dovi's results on his last year on the factory Repsol Honda compared to his one year on the satellite Tech3. They are virtually indistinguishable. The only way Crutchlow will significantly improve his points total his to crash a bit less than he did last year. But Dovi still clearly had the measure of him over a race distance regardless, which points to Crutchlow not being able to doing anything on a factory spec bike that Dovizioso didn't do, which wasn't all that much. And crashes or not the fact that Bautista beat Crutchlow in the championship last year proves that Crutchlow isn't tittle winning material. Over one lap Crutchlow looks like he can compete with the aliens, but over a race distance it's another story, factory bike or not. Which why in testing and in qualifying he always looks a lot better than he does in the points standings...... I remember how Max Biaggi fans

....I remember how Max Biaggi fans used to always go on about how different things would be if Max was ever on a factory Honda. The year he finally got one, he had his worst season in Motogp results wise and was soon after forced out of the sport.....
