MotoGP » Suzi Perry: Rossi can win, 'stick two fingers up' at the critics

"I think we could see Rossi back on the top step of the podium. That would be great, because so many people in the sport have written him off. I want him to stick two fingers up at those people!" - Suzy Perry.

@ Dave 'I think she is just saying that alot of journo's who previously praised rossi as the greatest, jumped ship very quickly in the space of 1 to 2 years as if the previous 12 didnt happen, deserve the 2 finger salute.'

I think thats the while point Dave.

Rossi was branded as the greatest in the past, but his total failure over the last two seasons has shown that he is not. The journo's have right to say he's not the greatest when he is not able to step up to the plate.

How can he be the greatest when he failed to acheive anywhere close to the previous number 1 rider? He didnt even come close. If he was the greatest he would have beaten him. He deserves to have losty the greatest tag by the unbiased people involved in the sport. Of course his hardcore fans (like perry) still see him as the greatest, and thats fine of course, but most people living in the real world can see that he is clearly not.

He WAS the greatest, but then Stoner and Lorenzo came along to spoil his party a

............

He WAS the greatest, but then Stoner and Lorenzo came along to spoil his party and have both beaten him head to head.

You cannot be the greatest if there are people out there who have beaten you more often than not.

Its common sense to any unbiased person with a gram of intelligence.

This is not a dig at Rossi at all. As i said he WAS the greatest, but times change and younger riders like Stoner and Lorenzo come along and take over to raise the bar higher than people like Biaggi and Gibenau ever could at the time. Thats sport and its called progression.

Will Rossi win again? Of course he will! He should be winning a few on the Yamaha. If he doesnt there is something drastically wrong!!!!!!

Hedgehog - would largely agree, but he was never the greatest (that is a close run thing between Ago & Hailwood).
Rossi was the best of his generation - until Lorenzo & Stoner came along.
The only ones who think Rossi is the greatest are those who are too young to have actually seen those who were.

Wow... there really are some douchebags on here, it's amazing how many 'experts' have so many negative opinions and know far better than any of the people the articles on here are about. I'm willing to bet that half of you have never ridden a bike, many have never even been to a race meeting, and most of you have probably only ever written a shopping list or some know-it-all BS comment on here. Read these comments and between you, the Ducati would have been fixed year's back, you'd have had Stoner in your lounge giving him all your pearls of wisdom, and you'd have won countless awards for your journalistic expertise. There is a reason these people are riding the bikes you watch, building the bikes you watch, and presenting the bikes you watch while you sit in your armchair bitching on a forum or comments section- they know a lot more than you.

I think everyone knows from the latest Sepang test that VR has adjusted back to M1 well & is less than 0.5 seconds off pole & he has ridden last years M1 & only received the new chassis on the final day of testing! Danny is fast but VR has more killer when competing for wins. He is going to surprise many. Marquez is fast but he has to do it over race distances, that's where Rossi is strong. VR will easily be in the top 3 all season, just needs to be seen how quickly he is in tune with the M1 & if he gets the same spec parts that Lorenzo gets as the no.1 rider. Hope there's many wet races, Rossi will cream them, he's hungry again!

wow I must have picked up a disgruntled fan lol
to disagree with the facts... Hayden did win seca. and catalunya, the year he won his title proving you don't need to WIN a lot of races to win the championship.
great article!
