"We improved the lap time a lot from yesterday. We are closer, but there remains one second to the top and there are still some problems" - Valentino Rossi.

Racing was close in 2006 for many reasons. Using Stoner's LCR Honda does not help your argument, as it was in fact the worst Honda on the grid. No factory support and third rate Michelins. It wouldn't have looked very good for Repsol if (relative) unknown Stoner was beating Dani all the time would it?

Rossi was hampered in 2006, between Yamaha not getting the frame right which caused his early season problems and Rossi apparent lack of skill of not staying away from Elias (relax, that's a joke). Had Yamaha got it right, it wouldn't have been close as Rossi would have walked the season away.

It was closer because there were more riders in the same skill set bracket. Now, not so much. 99,26,46,93 are in a catergory by themselves, everyone else, not so much.

Wtf? LCR is the perfect example. Do you not remember Stoner putting that bike on pole, very nearly winning running in the top five on many occasions and yes beating Dani also. All the Hondas even the slowest ones were capable of wins that year and every year previous. Without the mechanicals Rossi did clean house that year. He pulled back a 51 point deficit even with issues beyond his control. Maybe you were watching a different championship.

The argument is in regards to some people's assertions that sat teams can't compete or even aren't allowed to compete with factory bikes comments by talentfan. The old "Rossi was gifted his wins" by a "higher power" BS is where this originated, btw.

Firstly Roman - who died and made you God?

Its a waste of time arguing a point with someone who has only one perspective, and that perspective is (Rossi is the greatest and everything he does is wonderful , while no-one else deserves anything like the kudos of Rossi).

Some people will bend any statistic or historical event so that it always (to them) 'demonstrates' and 'proves' that their hero Rossi is always coming out being the best, regardless of anything else.

I disagree with you Roman. Not just what you say, but with your unremitting blatant bias and your unwillingness to consider things impartially and intelligently.

@ Roman "In other words...I WIN! Btw, Crutchlow just put paid to your BS suggestion that the satellite bikes are uncompetitive."

Its a bit early for you to claim any kind of victory (nice childish comment tho). As for Cal...

According to you, Cal is not good enough, so you NEED to believe his bike is as good as Rossi's (when it isn't) - otherwise you'd have to state that Cal's talent put him up there. It'd ruin your world to actually contemplate that other Yamaha riders might be as good their own merit.

You'd better hope that Cal doesn't beat Rossi in any race this season, or you'll be in an impossible position of trying to 'prove' to yourself and the world how an inferior rider on a Satellite bike could do this and yet still 'prove' that Rossi was the better rider.

This is not about Rossi - its about blind fanboyism as an illness making people spout absolute drivel in defence of a guy they've never met, & who doesn't need anyone being their great defender in the first place.
