I'm happy to wait and see what the first event of the season brings. Happy that its all mixed up a bit, and not totally 'business as usual', but the conditions mean that I don't really see this as saying too much.

Marquez is down a bit, but my guess is that's the iffy conditions v his lack of seat time on the RCV. Ditto Smith.

Cal & Dovi's showing might reflect their greater experience (& the fact that the Duke is far more competitive when the conditions means you don't can't push that last couple of percent), while VR's result has to be a definite confidence-booster, a minor victory over Lorenzo and reflect his vast experience and ability in wet/dry conditions.

Those with the biggest concerns remain Spies & Hayden I think - being shown the way by a Rookie and eclipsed by Dovi on the same bike.

We will see a lot more photos of the blue bike with yellow touche on the front page this year and the following. 34+ of age and two nightmare season at Ducati... still faster than young guns. Isn't he a living legend? he indeed is a living legend. I wonder what excuse anti-legend brigade would bring if he wins and at the end the title?!! Gold is pure, no amount of rust can affect it, that's what VR46 is.

I wondered when he would finally make a few drastic changes to the set up.

Well today Rossi finally changed the set-up and it all clicked into place.

Final day of testing tomorrow and all looking good for the top four riders, but Rossi found the difference today with the correct set-up, now we can expect the games to begin.

Roll on 2 weeks time.
