I think if the conditions had stayed dry throughout, then the usual suspects would have had time to perfect the set-up and got that final tiny bit out of their factory bikes that'd give them the edge, and Cal wouldn't be up there.

But that's not to take anything away from Cal - the test conditions have proved enough of a leveller in machinery terms for Cal to be able to grab his chance to shine and stick #35 right on top.

He's a step or 2 behind in kit now, so as has been said his chances to do this a round or 2 in are less likely. Its great he's taken his chance to put himself in front of everyone and show he's got genuine top-class ability and pace.

To be honest none of this matters a stuff. Once the racing start its Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Marquez - not in that order necessarily. Followed by Rossi, Bradl and Crutchlow and Bautista. Mark my words

Cal Crutchlow finished on top of the timesheets ...and that's a sign that the Rossi's time is in fact nothing special and no one of the top guys probably pushed really hard.

About Ben Spies absence from today test, this is what Pramac said:
"Ben instead preferred to preserve his shoulder without taking risks"

this time tell us how fast the top riders set-up their bike to adopt the weather. so this test was meaningful. other riders need a lot of time to configure their to make it fast.

goodluck to Cal.

Im happy with cal atm! But do you guys believe that yamaha factory racing will let cal to smoked them all year? I don't think so. Factory won't give cal updates all yr if he is threat of winning races! They don't pay jlo and rossi just to owned by their satellite team. I hope im wrong but we will see more pr tactics from yamaha especially with rossi back! Im with cal i hope he can win because last time a satellite won i reckon was back 2006 with elias. Good luck to all. I can't wait. Having mha two weeks annual leave just to follow the openning rd. hehe :)

Having been under the official race lap record, I have no reason to believe that the top guys weren't pushing hard. This is the last test to showcase what they've got for the first few races of the season. Vale's had a steady rise as far as preseason testing goes. Marc has been shown to need more track time in adverse conditions, ie. wet & damp. Dani & Jorge are as strong as ever. Cal is a bit of a wildcard, with glimpses of podium potential, but also a little rough around the edges, which has seen him in the kitty litter on occasion. It looks like Dani & Jorge are at even odds for the "W" at Qatar. Vale is right behind them, with Marc attaining a podium if the front 3 duff it up in the slightest. Cal right behind Marc.

1m 40.758 set by Marco Melandri in Jerez during a 2-day test.

MotoGP needs to pull their finger out of their a$$ & drop the engine allocation & tire limit rules. Superbikes are way too close to the prototypes & faster than the CRTs. Yeah, yeah, I know different tires/weather & etc., but still. Wish I could subscribe to SBK.com to watch races like on MGP.com! No need for cable service if I could.

Grendle, you got it backwards, why do you think Dorna bought wsbk? they are gona fk it up just like motogp, by adding more rules, starting with limited engines next year n tire rules and slowing them down so they dont out shine their cashcow....
