He's being realistic, a podium on the first race (after two years of disaster) would be a good result for him and for his fans. For Lorenzo and Pedrosa however the target is to finish first, both will be out to win the race, and one of them will probably do. Which means that if Rossi wants to get on that podium he needs to beat Marquez, and he knows that. I can't wait for Sunday.

is everyone forgetting the other riders who's times were pretty close to the rest.

you think these guys arent going to give MM some greif.
you all seem to be focused on rossi and mm and forgotten the rest.
yer MM was fast on a moto2, and is fast in testing motogp, but a race is totally differnt.

fingers crossed it goes fine for no 46.
also fingers crossed that lorenzo gets what he deserves.
mm could be a spoiler that mucks up loads of folks plans.
yamaha will get what they want either way.
dani has had his chances and threw them away, he wont be much danger this season.
we may just see a yam 1-2-3 at the end of the season..

just nor with lorenzo

He'll go for the victory only if he sees a chance during the race, but he's not stupid. It's his first race back on the M1, he needs to take it easy and understand what his level is compared to the others. There's a long season ahead of them.

I should hope he'll get a podium! Anything less wouldnt really be very good now would it.

To get a podium he only needs to beat a rookie.

But of course we all know that Rossi is downplaying his chances.

Maybe the last 2 seasons have shown him how to be humble.

Looking forward to a great seasons racing!
