I don't know why so many of you can't figure out whether Rossi is downplaying things or not. When has Rossi ever downplayed anything ? Rossi is the type who says exactly what he thinks. When he thinks he is strong he will say so, if he thinks he is at a disadvantage he will say so too. He knows that on some weekends, he will turn up and win, and on other weekends, he will get left behind and beaten. He is just being realistic about things

I know what you're saying...... but.......

Because he's slower than JL DP MM in testing
Because he's had a terrible 2 years in Ducati and lost confidence
Because people have questioned his worthiness to inherit the championship winning bike
Because he's 34
Because Cal and Stefan will be in the mix too
Because Qatar isn't one of his favourite circuits
Because a podium is always an amazing result, no matter who you are
Because its his first race on this bike
Because people wrote him off

They're just a couple of reasons why a podium will be an amazing result!!

There's plenty of people in contention for this podium, and it'll be like this all season.

I cant fecking wait til it starts!!

Fair play DB,thats a pretty honest answer. In retrospect i agree with some of your points.
People who say he is too old at 34 are fools. And as for not being worthy of the championship bike, also plain foolish.
I do agree however, that he will have had a hit to his confidence after his 2 years with Ducati.
Lets hope the" old" fella can still mix it up with the young guns and bring some more excitement to things.
Like you,i cant bloody wait!

How much difference a fast team mate with access to all the updates makes!

If this was a year where Rossi was the number one at yamaha he'd be going bonkers in all the press outlets about how fast the hondas are and how yamaha needs to improve or he'd be going elsewhere.

The hondas have been the fastest last year and this year Lorenzo and Rossi have their work cut out for them but Lorenzo just goes flat out to give them a fight. It is still to be seen how long Rossi will keep his mouth shut.

@ 99

Well thought out responses man. I haven't seen you this objective in awhile. With that said, I enjoy debates with you and a few others here. At least there is merit on all sides whether we agree or disagree.

re: "Because people have questioned his worthiness to inherit the championship winning bike"

in a crazy turnabout, s1 questions the worthiness of people who've haven't seen the video of rossi recounting like 4 or 5 generations of laurel lifting M1, that existed BEFORE anybody ever knew from lorenzo.
