TBH, everything above is bolloc's until the chequered flag waves.
Brad Smith is a decent if not un equivocal individual.
Personally, I think there are faster out f the box riders, however, and here is the thing. Perhaps Herve saw the change between year 1 and 2. That made him decide, hmm perhaps we give the ginger fella a year then let him loose. maybe just maybe he see's what I cant.........

Smith finished 2nd in 2009 and then 4th in 2010. But still looking back at his 125cc days, he spent 5 years on both factory Honda's and Aprilia's and won only 3 racers in that time span, which isn't particularly impressive. Interestingly in 125cc he was a better qualifier than a racer, but in Moto2 his strengths and weaknesses switched places and he became a better racer than qualifier. He is a solid rider, but isn't as talented or as outright quick as some other riders. Still if he managed to finish the championship in the top six at the end of the year it would be a excellent result for him, although i don't see that happening.......

I think Bradders finished 4th in 2010 championship .
I still think he finished 8th more often than not and that would be an excellent result for him.

Each bike level is different and some riders adapt well and some cannot make the step uphave seen them come and go . Yamaha see something in this boy and are giving him the chanch to step up over 2 years if he can or not is over to him . This season top ten will be target without to many offs . Have to remember he has to work at it to be quick not a natural freaky rider like MM who will be in top 4 straight away is me opinion

here in tbe stateskids grow up playing baseball football basketball starting at 5, n 10, were lucky to get a bike most parents see them as death cycles, and want you you to get a car.... where in Europe, you get a scooter as your 1st vehicle, and in Spain I think racing is second only to soccer, heck thier government builds the tracks if not more... we have produced a few but not like over there, that's for sure, Josh Hayes is too old and the ama is rather weak... what we need is more support and to get our guys over their get more guys into the redbull riders cup.... who knows maybe Colin's kid in few years lol...

Agreed Talentfan.
He may have had some crashes but he also had some podiums.Not even some factory riders achieved that last year.So i believe Crutchlow is definately worthy of a place on the grid.

There seems to be alot of hating on Bradley on here and I can't understand it, yeah ok he had mediaocre results in 125s and Moto2 but he showed potential and thats what mattered to Herv Poncharel, Bradley is a development, a project I guess...he has the speed and he just needs the experience to adapt to the GP bike and as soon as he does I'm sure he can be fighting for the top 8 by mid season and top 5 by 2014.

And Cal gets a lot of my respect, he's a normal guy (not a spanish media brainwashed puppet) who is rapid on a motorcycle, he took a year to learn the Yamaha, crashed loads but showed flashes of how fast he can be, this year he has the experience of the carbon brakes, Bridgestone tyres and power to be smoother and more consistant so fully capable of podiums this year!
