if he can get his bike up to 2010 spec/performance he might be able to beat his former teammate, but I think hes going to have to deal with chatter in the front :) Watching Spies' brakes fail at Motegi last year and an unstable bike, while Spies said he was going his own way has to be a little iffy for Rossi. Maybe Yamaha have a 2010 chassis with a 2013 motor in it ???

FWIW - posters saying that there'll be more than the 4 Jap Factory protagonists regularly duking it out for podiums, & saying this will be an Epic Season.

I don't think so. Not unless:

a) one or more of the 4 underperform / crash consistently to allow the front-running satellite boys into the game. AND / OR

b) There's a lot of wet/slippy races to negate some of the budget / team / data / equipment advantages of JL / VR / DP / MM.

Whatever you might WANT to see, don't kid yourselves. There's only 4 riders really in the hunt for wins and regular podiums (as usual). Get used to it.

Marquez the human cannonball ? have you forgot Rossi 's infamous blunder on Stoner ? when his" ambition outweighed his talent " ???!!!!".....

You Rossi haters need to come up with an original thought or comment. Why not use the "some of the moves he made were a little hard (boo hoo hoo)".

It's funny.....when Rossi races hard and makes it exciting everyone enjoys it yet you twits try to justify or define his character and career by the comment of someone accomplished a fraction of what he has done.

@ FZ1

If (IF) Marquez rides as hard as we expect him to, and in doing so he takes Rossi out of the race?

Those who celebrate such things when Rossi does them - will they feel the same if someone else does them to Rossi? There's every chance we'll find out the answer to that in 2013.

What do I think? Given the grossly partisan nature of the typical Rossi fan, then I think there'd be a BARRAGE of howling, protesting and irate Rossi fans turning on MM, just like they did the previous incumbent on that bike.

His own set up. Ok, It's still Lorenzo piece of art. And Rossi better adapts because for the price he bought that ride yamaha can't afford to develop parts separately for him and they aren't willing either. Remember yamaha racing didn't want him there in the first place.

And yes, this season is going to be super hyper epic...again.

Why don't people wait for the end of the season to call it "epic" so they can stop repeating the same sh1t every time racing is going to start?

What i've noticed in Motogp since 2000,that the fans and the media wanted a new darling for the sport. They got a win from the so called Goat, and they pushed him to the max.As with young people today in life, and in general, they want everything, and they want it now They forget about the Roberts the Raineys and the Doohans. The Lawsons and the Spencers.Only remember the Great Rossi.A lot of people fell for it.As soon as Flossi won his first championship,he was the best ever. As i said.young people know it all,and they want to do as they like.Rossi had it his way like a spoilt **** for a few years well, and he did stuff and people looked the other way.Life imitates art they say.Men want to walk down hyde park way with their boyfriends kissing and hugging each other...what else is new. That my friends is the new generation. This year is another year where Rossi fans willl have the excuses flying high....just like the last three seasons.Oh wait, the guys say that this year is suppose to be a hu

Of course they use different settings ! And it isn't just because the riders have different physiques and therefore different C of G 's.
The debate over VR46 using the same settings as Jlo has so far ignored the recently published decisions by the riders for JLo to use the "New" chassis and VR46 to continue with the "Old" chassis. This difference will demand different settings.
The aspect we should be concerned with is whether VR46's bike will have the same reliability issues which plagued Ben's Pies in 2012. Hopefully VR46's faithful mechanics and engineers will be able to put together a bike without faults and flaws.
Personally, I forsee VR, JLo, Dani and MM all achieving 3 or more wins in 2013. The other podium positions will be important in the points tally. Any races where they score zero points will be crucial.
Game On !

Rossi and Marquez both have an 'agressive' style. The difference is Rossi only makes his 'agressive' moves when he is in the middle of a one to one battle with another rider, normally in decisive races against one of his big rivals (Gibernau, Stoner, Lorenzo..). Marquez on the other hand makes 'agressive' moves that make no sense and border stupidity, like pushing a much slower rider during free practice, you'd never see Rossi do something like that. In any case I am not worried about Marquez and I'm pretty sure Rossi isn't either. He's no pussy cat, he can take Marquez on any time.

I think we all want to see a little fairing clashing from time to time. But the reaction of fans to that will greatly depend on who is dishing it out and who is on the recieving end!
This could be a very interesting point in future.
As for Lorenzo and Rossi sharing data,i think too much emphesis is placed on it.You may not get much benefit from your team mates data if his riding style, weight, height etc is different from yours. What may suit Lorenzo may not suit Rossi and vice versa.
They both have different styles and will be concentrating on their own game.
