"Why don't people wait for the end of the season to call it "epic" so they can stop repeating the same sh1t every time racing is going to start?"

That's because Stoner quitting is already an EPIC in itself. There. I said what no one else would but everyone knows so well.

Valentino doesn't need to copy anybody's style - he has his own! Each rider has a different style of riding anyway determined by all sorts of reasons, height, weight, preference for this, that or the other, they are all there though because they are very good whatever style they have!! Some are just better than others!

Also, a bit of fairing bashing is a good thing if it is done in a fair and square sort of fashion! It shows commitment and determination, but has to be safe and the outcome has to be a good one for both riders in that one of them isn't shoved off the track or some other disasterous event. Some riders are very adept at this and can cope and manage their bikes when up against it, others however, who haven't been involved in a bit of a battle will be scared sh-tless and end up all over the place! Therefore is does depend on who is doing the bashing and whether or not they know what they are doing!

@herewego...
In fairing bashing do you mean like the way Rossi took Stoner out in the wet?
I actually think this is going to be one of the most exciting season starts for years. And I'm thinking that because, Rossi should be up front most of the time, but also because Marquez is here and has done brilliantly in testing. Dani was unlucky last year, and Mr Lorenzo is Mr consistent, going to be hard to beat this year, my favorite for the title.

At the start of every year people get umped up and declare the season will be epic with massive battles throughout. Thing is it never happens.

There are only a few riders that can even run the pace at the front let alone consistently. When a pass happens its because someone doesn't have the tires at the end, has a mechanical or physical problem and there is no real chance of fighting back.

The winners will have nailed the setup and cleared away, the best of the rest will still be around 30s back and a few will crash trying to up their pace and find their way to the front. Business as usual is what I expect I just hope the season won't be decided by the middle of the season.

@lad...
Now what you wrote is laughable!
To put someone down with a statement like yours in saying Velantino was bought back to develop the Yamaha, is rubbish to say the least. Vale's record at Ducati was a standout wasn't it? He did nothing for the bike and the rest of the world knows that, how come you don't? Can Velantino ride a bike? He's one of the best on the grid, no one is disputing that. But can he develope a bike... No he can't?

Its pretty clear that Cal/Jorge are the fastest on the Yamaha for what they have, that bike was designed for Lorenzo, the bike suffers on heavy braking, Rossi's bread and butter is on the brakes, one of the outstanding reasons why he sucked so hard on the Ducati (tire temp/geometry).

Setup is for the tires, The bike is designed for particular potential, motor, brakes, geometry, the pilot needs to understand the potential of the bike and be able to make a good setup work, that works with the tires.

If Rossi is on his 2010 bike, he might be able to make the tires work, if hes on the same bike Spies was on, hes gonna have problems, because the potential of a bike directly affects the lines it can take, and how it needs to be ridden.
