Cal is one of the fastest out there for a lap or two. But that is not much of an help on raceday.. I he can show some of Jorges consistency he would be a serious threat to factory Yamaha's and Honda's.

Yes Dovi beat Cal over the season. Most of the year they were tidied together, just Dovi was better in the first 2 laps and that help.

You have to lso consider Dovi had more experence in the top flight (2008) and also has been in the MotoGp paddock for a lot longer(20081) learning and racing on prototypes.

That experience counts.

A hotlap doesn't make race pace, specially not a hotlap where the rider is pushing to the limit.

Just look how tidy were Rossi's and Lorenzo's laps. That means that, if they were to push as hard as Cal did, they would have found several tenths more.

If lucky, on Sunday Cal will be battling it with Bradl and maybe Marquez, if Marquez falls behind.

Nick636, wow 2 3rd place finishes for crutch that is indeed quite the improvement.. At that rate he'll be getting maybe 4 podiums this year and hopefully a win a or a pole in the next 3. That is if tech3 doesnt drop him. Keep on trucking crutch.

I really wish alex espargaro just get a shot a some decent equipment ...if u think cc is fast on a prototype than espargaro is the new revelation if he can put tha CRT within 1.2 from a full fact. Yamaha n so such of a big track and a least 25 or more kph slower ...now that's something to talk about not cc always complaining about not having factory support

Cal just needs to work on his Race pace and Starts, last year he was always fast in qualifying but his starts killed him,Dovi managed to get in front and was almost impossible to pass on the M1.I've read that Cal is now running Lorenzos 2012 spec bike which isnt a bad package at all but there have been improvements for 2013 engine and chassis wise.

Rossi brings attention, more eyes on the sponsors means more money, even if Rossi was ****, they'd be better off than with anyone else. However Rossi is a safe bet that he'll deliver consistent points and that is what Yamaha want. Yamaha want Rossi to bring his crew with him to help develop the bike and for Rossi to support Lorenzo and help Yamaha win the team title. They didn't bring him on to win the championship, they have a number one now, they want someone reliable.

Cals problem is he cannot overtake, so many times last year he would have scored better than Dovi, sadly he just loses his nerve when it comes to sticking one down the inside.
