I like the new quali format. It good for spectators and lets not forget that motor racing is a spectator sport. Remember the old format ? Riders sittng around in the pits and then going out with 10 minutes left and setting their fastest lap.

The mystery card is Dovi. He holds his race position very well so any rider behind him on lap 1 will have difficulties whilst those in front of Dovi goes away. I now expect Lorenzo to win from Pedrosa and Crutchlow to do well if he does let Dovi past him at the start. I expect a right tussle between Marquez and Rossi and then to take up 4th to 6th places if and when Marquez and Rossi gets past Dovi.

@Uata

so let me get this straight,
you are saying in the positions they are in now after QP
jlo pedro cal , that will be your top 3, and you seriousy think MM and Rossi wont pass Dovi, ?? Dovi is a good rider and hard to pass but on the Duc even he isnt sure how long his tyres are going to last the distance.
QP positions means nothing once the red lights go out. who's going to get a good start, who's going to get blocked going into the first turn,

anything can happen and always does. how many times have we seen a rider get Pole and he's already lost that spot going into the first turn.

Still after all those years Rossi get the most comments on the articles about him. Why? Because he's an interesting guy. And he's a Motorcycle legend, because he proved it. He can complain about circumstances, but also laugh about himself or have funny remarks about his or others racing. Stoner never had that. He was the child who didn't like that even though he won races, Rossi still had the most attention. Now his fans (how is that even possible..?) are still trying to make every article about moaning. Well, grow up. It's about racing!! If Rossi is telling he was stalled, than he was!

Rossi OUGHT to get AT LEAST a podium on a bike that is 0.4 secs faster than the nearest non-Yamaha in qualifying trim (in the hands of Lorenzo that is). Especially as the M1 has been far more consistent on race pace throughout all the sessions.

The worry for Rossi fans is surely that his 1:55.711 in qualifying is by far Rossi's fastest time of the entire weekend! He better have more than that or he won't see which way the others went!!

I seem to remember Stoner qualifying a second off the pace at Jerez last year. Were all you Casey fanboys sticking the boot into your hero then? Haha thought not.

Hi
Not really bagging Rodssi but the Fanboys like Realist
I am really happy he is back, the more the marrier, but to call him a great developer is to take it to far
He is fast and got skills but that's about it
and yes he won a lot of titles, but that is not always an indicator, just look at Doohan, he is far from the greatest and he had 5 titles.

@ Claes,

You might want to mean that titles are not a final proof, but otherwise yes, they are an indicator.

But the point is that on top of those, Vale has proven his mettle by having written some of the most beautiful pages of this sport through memorable races and overtakes.

He's over the hill, ok, he has been so since 2010, but who doesn't get old? He's still one of the greatest.
Personal opinion, but when it comes to racecraft, I'd go as far as saying he might be the greatest.
