"I was stuck in traffic so I could not improve my lap time and I lost some positions" - Valentino Rossi.

Valentino Rossi still remains an engima. During pre-season testing he was albeit slower that his team mate and the Repsol Honda riders, except for once, but that was at Jerez, one of his favourite tracks. The Italian may be older, and two difficults seasons at Ducati may have sapped something from him, but he is still a pure race animal, and a prideful and cunning one at that, with a baggage of race tricks up his sleeve, so he and Marc Marquez will definitely be the two to watch Sunday evening.

Blah,

Age is relative, 34 is young, but not so for every sport.
And we don't all age the same way.

Ago said "you start losing just 1-2 tenths and you don't realize", but 1-2 tenths at these levels are what make the difference, what would allow Rossi to stay with Jorge and eventually get the best of him with racecraft.

I'll tell you more, I think do think age matters in Rossi's case, but even if that's not the main culprit, then what else? This isn't even close to the best Rossi.

The thing is the Rossi brigade will always be making excuses and always try and dig up dirt on Stoner, the fact of the matter is if Stoner was riding the M1 he'd blow Rossi away he is simply a better rider than Rossi, and I doubt Rossi will be on the podium unless at least 2 of the front runners fall or something, face it guys Rossi is exposed, expect more pain after the race, no doubt the fan boys will be busy thinking of excuses even mid race.

Oh, and P.S.:
I'm a huge Rossi fan, indeed what I'm saying is that when we're talking about hall of fame, we shouldn't judge THIS Rossi but the one who was at the top of his game and one mile ahead of the competition (and has been so for quite a long time).

Hi
Rossi will do well, but he is also under pressure to do well so in comparison MM have no pressure at all and he is hungry, which the last 2 years show that Rossi isn't.
I think MM will win and JL second and Rossi or Cal 3rd
Cheers Claes

I've been to a couple of race weekends in 2011, 2012. Walking around the infield during practice and qualifying it was astounding watching these guys go into the corners, it was always an OMG feeling.

There were always about 5 or 6 guys who came cooking into the corners that gave you an OMFG feeling. Rossi was one of those. But each race he did nothing, no apparent effort and the results showed it. I'm keen to see how this race goes for sure.

One other observation from those weekends, when stoner was on form no one could touch him. :) Truth!

The Rossi hate on this website is appalling the second the slightest thing goes wrong despite him doing well all weekend people need to starting bashing him... I'm guessing most of these people have only been watching over the past couple of years and have no clue about motor racing. It's time for less bitching and more to the point enjoy the season!!

The fact is Rossi is low on confidence and his morale was down due to not winning single race for Last two years. This doesn't mean that he is not competitive. Most of us know about his performance in race is better than qualifying. I hope title winning is not a cake walk for any rider. None of them is having clear edge on other riders. One important thing to remember is races were so pleased to watch for the lost 10 years or so was due to Rossi. He is the true legend. Lets see what happens tonight.
