The Rossi of Old would recover from FARTHER BACK and WIN. He would be docked 10 seconds and recover to WIN. The Rossi of Old would never celebrate a SECOND place. On the podium his face would be long to the ground. This Rossi recovered yes. Only to finish SECOND. 5 seconds back from a coasting JLO. Then went bonkers CELEBRATING second. Hugging and high-fiving everyone almost like the surprised runner who flukes bronze. I love the man. I believe he is the GOAT. But I remain unconvinced that he still has the bottle to WIN. How I wish I am wrong!

@HG - Unregistered “Someone said Crutchlow cracked under pressure coz of his pace which was enough to compete with Lorenzo.
-Crutchlow never cracked under pressure, he just did not have the bike for a podium. There is an obvious power difference between the factory and the sat Yamahas.”
In a tweet today, Cal told Neil Hodgson “same as factory bikes engine wise ! Don't know why I lost so much mate on straight”.
Different electronics settings ? Or maybe he just lost out to the Hondas, and was on a par with the factory Yams.
I'd like to see comparative speed trap figures.

@ Tetley

Thanks for that! I've been saying all along that the T3 bikes are very, very close to the factory bike potential (obvious as the bike was on the front row and held onto the Hondas).

@Daniel Kuchnia
Good ride by Rossi.
If Bridgestone dont deliver a suitable tyres for all, it will be Yamaha Cup soon.
The way, how the front end worked by yama yesterday is scary. Shame for other, they had NO CHANCE this year, if any changes comes

Is this the best you can come up with - were Rossi's tires different than those available to the rest of the grid??
You really are someone to feel pity for. Could you not just enjoy the best MotoGP race we have witnessed in ages without letting your pathetic hatred for Rossi vomit up?

Valentino!!!!! that was one of the best races that has not happen for a long time. He passed the 2nd place contenders going beyond the limit. If it wasnt for that snug on turn 1 with pedrobot he would have had a great chance catching jorhay. It's awesome to see him on the M1 again. BTW for the haters your stoner is racing v8 if you'd like to go kiss him.

Well we all have enjoyed a spectacular season opener last night. MM has proven to many that he is truly a racing prodigy in the making, maturing stage of his career, I would suspect that if he is smart, as it seems, that he is going to learn a great deal from some of the veteran racers, hone is skillsand catapult them to a new level. He is not in the Moto2 no more. As with the famed Rossi well done Sir, I have never seen in the past as well as the present any racer come from behind 7-10 sec to step on the top podium step or the 2nd podium step, like you have done on several occasions, Phillip Island i think in 07,08, and now even the great stoner has never done that, I say that to say to all those who don't like Rossi that is true skill, race craft, heart and any other word you wanna put their. He for me is truly a champion in his own class. You don't get the results as he has on flukes so all of you that don't like him enjoy the sport.

The race was won in the new quali format,JL came out of the pits like a scalded cat on really put the hammer down for the rest of quali.
The 1000cc bikes are very much like the 800s in that there is no spare pace or fuel or tyres to chase down someone too far in front.
Vale ran out of fuel on the slowdown because of the extra pace he had to run to catch and overtake the five riders that he did.could have been very much different if he were on the front row,still very good to see actual overtaking and a bit of the old rossi back.
GO VALE!!!

@46 renovation
Of course vale was chufffed,he just spent 2 dire years on the *** tbox Ducati,which incidentally is still a seventh/eighth place bike despite the sterling quali that dovi did.
At least on the Yam he has the equipment to fight for a podium,I am under no illusion with a few more laps under his belt marquez is gonna be a contender and JL and pedrosa proved there pace last year.
It must feel like hes won the lottery to be on a bike that actually turns into a corner!
