@ me - if if if.

You cannot state hypothetical situations as fact.

IF Casey hadn't quit, you'd maybe have your answer, but he quit.

Rossi also beat Pedrosa at the weekend, or did you conveniently forget that?

The big question now is can he beat Lorenzo this season in a race? I think he will, although I still think its clear that Lorenzo is the actual favorite for the championship.

I could not believe Rossi would be so competitive after those 2 bad years at Ducati. Seriously, he is a contender for the WC. I think comparing Stoner to Rossi is so unfair. Rossi is miles ahead when it comes to race craft and tactics.

I am a stoner fan, but Rossi, you are the all time great.

Sure, Valentino, Marquez had a better start in the big class than you, but so, even Biaggi did. And both on the 500 which were more difficult to adapt. But what counts is that you got 7 titles and counting while Marquez still has to deliver. He sure has lots of talent, but 5 straight titles or 2 more after a two year hiatus, but it is hard to believe that even Marquez can do that sort of stunt.

Rossi & Marquez brought some much needed racing and entertainment to Moto GP on Sunday. A bit of a burn from the stern from VR, and good to see that Marquez didn't let him have it without a fight when VR got by.
Jorge? Well, he did a perfect job - trouble is, is that perfect isn't entertaining and exciting to watch. The fact that VR & MM did make small errors and forced on a bit WAS entertaining. Given the electronics and machine perfection in MGP, it was nice to see that there still can be a bit of cut n thrust in a race.

The top 4 are always likely to be top 4 cos of the kit / team / budget advantages they have, as well as being great riders. DP had a poor opener & was the only 1 of the 4 to under-produce.
But this is just Race 1 - too early to say too much about next race let alone the season. Would happily watch more tussles like that though.

cont....

Cal? Well, his final position was the best he could realistically expect - the fact he lost all that distance on the straight every lap brought this home - I hope it doesn't demoralise him cos he did well to get the first position home behind the four who we can expect will be there every Sunday barring incident.

@ me - Thats true. But that's not what you stated.

The Ducati is one big fat red herring in the whole argument though, which leaves nothing but hypothetical situations.

I just wish neither Casey or Valentino ever had to ride it. It hindered both their potentials,

I would have loved to see Casey on a honda and Rossi on a Yamaha this year. But....he quit. Rossi therefore will always have more championships than him.... that is the main undeniable fact! Not Casey bashing at all, he was frickin amazing, but thats the bigger picture reality of it all

I knew Rossi had aimed for victory since the first race though he said he only targetted podium finished.
Rossi will not hang around the paddock for number two...that's not him..

Go Vale.... awaiting your next show!

when Rossi talkes about something he did back in the day there is always a hater who has to say

'IF stoner or jlo or pedro was there"

did you not watch the race "me"

pedro was there, Rossi passed him and never looked back.

Rossi could of passed Jlo on the 3rd and taken the victory and you would still come up with some rubbish to belittle him.

Give credit where its due. he rode like an animal to make up that ground to take 2nd spot.
