The Hondas will open up a lead and then they will need to watch their tyres.. if they push too hard the Yamahas will close them down. Rossi will try to hang onto Lorenzo's tail through the mid laps till the last few laps then it might be a big battle with 3 or more at the end!

bridgestone's tyre stratergy says that there is more attention needed on tyre management over the race pace,, if rossi and lorenzo are to start from not far away from each other then Rossi is the favourite,, its not a flowing track, it has got lot of hard braking points and that is where rossi excels... lorenzo's weapon called high corner speeds won't help here...

will be interesting to see how much gap yamaha will cut down against honda's pace in austin.

honda win or a rossi win for sure

I am a Rossi fan to my core, but I have huge respect for Jorge, both because of his skills and more because of his sportsmanship attitude. Also he was the only on that paid respect to Marco and attended his funeral. of course I support VR, but even if Jorge wins the title I'll cheer him. But it's so absurd that fans of a certain retired rider use him as an instrument to bash VR.

What a load of nonsense you write! When I was at Laguna in 2009, Rossi was fastest in 1st practise, Lorenzo fastest in the second, then in the race Dani put 8 seconds on the field and cleaned Rossi's clock. The three grandstands were in shocked silence when Dani crossed the line as everyone expected Rossi to win and he didn't!

Do your homework before you post such derogatory drivel!

@ Sete,

you're missing a very important word in Roman's post, and that is *IN BATTLE*.

As it is, his post stands true, if not only a bit underestimative towards Vale, as he's possibly the best racer ever and none of his opponents has ever matched him in that (it doesn't mean he didn't or can't ever lose, of course, you have to watch at the whole picture..)

Vale shouldn't really be here at his age. Have been so excited for this season and he absolutely delivered. Been no actual racing over past 2 seasons. Just a procession and gathering points. Lorenzo is super strong but even he doesn't capture the imagination. No-one seems to like a dog fight and a ding dong battle. Vale does it in buckets loads. MM seems in the same mould. I want to watch racing, not maintaining the gap and thinking about the points for WC. This year should be amazing! Even thougn Fogarty was a tool he concentrated on winning EVERY race he went into. I see a Battle of 2 blue Yams this year ??
