Just to add to the debate of which of the 4 will win....

MCN this week has an article from Neil Spalding, where he says that Yamaha have a new gearbox in their factory bikes to counteract the HRC seamless 'box & their previous advantage out of turns & initial acceleration. Its on Page 78 if you have access to this publication.

It'll be interesting to see the relative performance in this critical area at COTA - have Yam closed the gap with a better gearbox? If so, by how much? The HRC's were ascendant in the test, but that doesn't guarantee that the race weekend will go the same way. It'll be educational finding out!

Its is a new track, anything can happen. But it will not be win it or bin it for Yamaha. The pressure is currently on Hondas to win not Yamahas. I still expect a Yamaha 1-2 due to the skills and consistency of their riders.

I am a Rossi fan to my core, but I have huge respect for Jorge, both because of his skills and more because of his sportsmanship attitude. Also he was the only on that paid respect to Marco and attended his funeral.

Actually BOTH Jorge and Valentino went to marco's funeral

Isn't nice to see some actual debate based on facts and not the usual my favourite rider's dad is harder than your favourite riders dad nonsense, think this season is going to be much more enjoyable.

I think Lorenzo probably just had the legs on Rossi but not by much, Lorenzo knows he has got a fight on his hands, think it may be a very very very good season indeed

People wrote off Rossi from everything where that top guys were involved in,, but till date Rossi has managed to write off the critics and will continue to do so,, why wait for European races,, Rossi will keep doing what he does the best in Austin... Another podium for Rossi in Austin will only mean fire in JL stomach... Waiting for the battle of yamahas...

Casperelli:

You'll never get a nice debate at the beginning of the thread, but I've noticed that after some days, towards the last pages, you can often manage to get one :)

@Bender agreed about Stoner on the Duc in 2012 or this year once again in FP1 Dovi up there like Losail only to finish 8th. While Stoner could ride the Duc better than Dovi and likely Rossi it is pretty clear that by 2012 Yam and Honda had stretched the gap even further. If you say had Stoner on the Duc, MM with two seasons in the Honda and Rossi back on an M1 and with the proliferation of unofficial factory bikes 6th is Stoner's likely position.

As someone else pointed out it should be interesting to see the body language should Rossi start pressuring Jlo, which is very possible over the 18 race season.
