re: "Bayliss and Biaggi won World Superbikes over 40yrs old."

hizzy did it in BSB and this over a decade ago and he certainly wasn't the squared away, modern athletes like we have now.

re: "I'm not so sure age is that important anymore"

it isn't. nothing makes an uninformed/misinformed laymen happier than speaking out of turn.

As I have always said yeah win loss most wins yadda yadda fact is Rossi only rider since 2006 to defend his title and that was against CS and JL. Also the Duc has been steadily going backwards each year since 2007 that is why Stoner left and Rossi was stupid enough to take it on. Stoner won 3 in his last season given that Honda stepped up and Yam as well it is like that wins would have been few for Stoner in 2011 / 12. Dave I agree either it is all their time in the competition or it ain't you can't move the goal posts or pick Rossi's move to Duc to suddenly release a stats page out of Aust MCN.

what make a rider real champion is not only the win-ratio stat crap... total win & how long a rider can stay in competition shows who's real champion & who's loser... only agostini bettered rossi in that.. the other rider is nowhere near those two greatest riders....

Good day fellow bikers, But if you think about it Checa won a title at 40, max aswell and dont forget Hailwood and the legendary Forgerty. I do believe the age does not count but the desire of scraping leather in the corners and i'm 46 old and still do on my way to and back from work on my faithfull fazer600s of 2001. Her name is Daijirah for the record. and from Tenerife, I do sincerely believe he can pull it off. Great summer to all at crash, and enjoy what these guys do and i mean all of them. 74,6,48,58 miss you guys.

By the looks of it there are a few posters on these pages who will not enjoy their MotoGP's until Valentino falls off, gets knocked off (more likely), has a mechanical failure, is passed by a Ducati, is passed by a CRT, is passed by a Moto2, a Moto3, Casey's tinny etc, etc etc...............

LOL. :-)

A new year, and the old rants return.

Stats this versus cr4p that... Crash needs to add a yawn button for when agree or disagree isn't relevant, you just wish people would get a life...

Stoner has left the building. He doesn't care. Rossi can do anything - except win races for Ducati. To beat Ago's record, you need to win every race you enter for 4 consecutive years. That's every race. And do IoM, and win there too. Ago did that.

hi guys i have seen some comments over the win ratio thing just wondering why people are thinking CS is on top
VR 79 wins 217 starts win ratio of 36.41 percent
CS 38 wins 115 starts win ratio of 30.04 percent
VR in 2006 after the same 7 years as CS 58 wins 114 starts win ratio of 50.88 percent

P.S i am a CS fan and a VR fan but facts are fact.

Please remember when using Agostini's record to bash Rossi with, that half Ago's stats were compiled in the 350cc class.
Rossi hasn't raced that many times in the 350cc class.

If he had his figures would far out way Ago's.

@ Truefan....Ago was a great rider, it wasn't his fault that his competitors didn't have access to machinery good enough to challenge him. Not only did he appear in GPs and the TT, he also turned up for International races.
In England I was fortunate enough to watch him at Brands Hatch, Mallory park, and Silverstone in non GP events.
Imagine Rossi, or any of the others turning out for a BSB race.

@Codger - If you're refering to me, I wasn't (intentionally) bashing Rossi, I was merely complaining about the same old boring stuff on here. His fans are the main offenders, but not the only ones. FWIW...Ago won every race he entered on a 500 for 4 years straight...albeit on by far the best bike in the comp...etc. But it sets the bar very high.

On the topic of the article, it is a fantastic effort to maintain such a high level of racing performance over such a long time, and good luck to Rossi for that.
